Tyres, elastic, special apparatus for making.- Relates to a machine for applying the finishing plies of fabric around the beads and side walls of a tyre foundation on a rotating mandrel 10. The fabric strips are fed from stock-rolls 19 through curved guides 29 so as to be presented flatways against the sides of the mandrel. The guides 29 and associated spring-pressed rollers 32 are mounted on brackets 28 on the cam-operated arms 26 which carry the usual presser-rolls 27. After each pair of strips has been applied, the mandrel is rotated at high speed, and the slide 23 advanced by means of the hand-wheel 25 Àfor the proper laying-down of the fabric by the rolls 32, 27. A treadle-actuated roller 35 may be arranged, as shown in Fig. 2, for operating on the tread portions of the cover. The devices are shown mounted on a travelling carriage 13 for operation on a series of mandrels.
