1,019,322. Clamp fastenings. SOCIDE CONSTRUCTIONS D'APPAREILS MECONIQUES INOXYDABLES (S.C.A.M.I.). Dec. 17, 1962, No. 47593/62. Heading E2B. [Also in Division F2] Means for coupling together ends of pipes or other parts of circular section comprises two ring members 3, each having a frusto-conical flange 3a and each adapted to be secured to the end of one of the pipes 4 or other parts, with the inclined face of the flange away from the end, a clamp comprising at least two identical members 1 each having an arcuate part of channel shape between dissimilar extremities 6, 7 opposite walls of each arcuate part being inclined outwardly and the identical members being pivotally connected together by the engagement of pairs of said dissimilar extremities to form a clamping collar with dissimilar free extremities, the inclined walls of the identical parts being adapted to engage the inclined outer faces of the flanges of the two ring members, and means for drawing the free extremities of the collar towards each other. The construction shown in Fig. 1 uses two members 1 and of each member one extremity is formed as a hook 6 and the other extremity is formed as a stirrup 8 which includes a pivot pin 8 which is receivable within the hook 6 of the other member 1. The drawing means comprises a shackle 10 and a screw 9 carried by the shackle, the shackle being formed with a hook 11 which is engageable with the free pivot pin 8 of one of the members 1. The screw engages the hook 6 of the other member 1. An alternative form of drawing means shown in Fig. 8 consists of a lever 12 to which is pivoted a link 13. The lever is formed with a hook 14 at one end which is engageable with the pivot pin 8 of one member 1 and the free end of the link engages the hook 6 of the other member 1, the lever and link together forming a toggle. The members 1 and drawing means can be permanently connected together by bending the hooks so that the pivot pins cannot be disengaged from them but in an alternative form the pivot pins are each provided with a flat by means of which they can be passed through the mouths of the hooks to enable the members 1 and the drawing means to be separated. Alternatively one of the arms which carries the pivot pin 8 is reduced in width so that the hook can be disengaged from the pin transversely. Each of the members 1 can be provided with a boss 18 by means of which it can bear on a support and for coupling pipes or other parts of large diameter more than two members 1 can be used.
