PRODUCTION OF CAST COATED PAPER

PURPOSE: To provide a production process for cast-coated paper with improved productivity, increased coating speed and improved operation efficiency, as it maintains high glossiness and smoothness which are the characteristics of cast-coated paper and causes no defect such as uneven gloss, mottle, pinhole and drum picking.

CONSTITUTION: The base paper is coated with a cast-coating layer mainly containing pigments and an adhesive and, while the layer is still wet and plastic, the coated paper is introduced into a space between the heated cast drum 1 and the press roll 2 so that the paper is pressed to the drum 1 through an endless elastic band 3 running between the roller 2 and the drum 1 for drying, and then the paper is released.
