HOBBING MACHINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To insert/remove a cutting hob to/from an arbor provided on a spindle stock quickly, easily, and safely by rotatably supporting a grinding wheel to be hobbed with a grinding wheel drive device, and moving the grinding wheel in the direction of the arbor axis and perpendicularly to the arbor axis.

SOLUTION: A hob 10 substantially symmetrical as a whole and arranged with many cutting teeth on the outer periphery is inserted to an arbor 28, and it is insertably/removably fitted on the arbor 28 by a spacer 30 and a fixing nut 32. When a driving device incorporated in a turntable 24 is operated, the arbor 28 can be rotated from the hobbing work position to the hob inserting/ removing position. A grinding wheel 18 is fitted to a grinding wheel fitting shaft, it is rotated by the drive device at a high speed, and it can be three- dimensionally freely reciprocated in the axial direction of the arbor 28 and perpendicularly to the axis of the arbor 28.
