[0000]The present invention relates to a method for identifying the serotype of Salmonella, which is a major cause of food poisoning, using the entire base sequence of the RNA polymerase beta subunit (rpoB) gene. More specifically, the present invention relates to a method for identifying the serotype of a Salmonella sp. microorganism by analyzing the entire base sequence of the rpoB gene of the Salmonella sp. microorganism; a primer for amplifying the entire base sequence of the rpoB gene of a Salmonella sp. microorganism, and a primer for determining the base sequence thereof; a composition and a kit for identifying the serotype of a Salmonella sp. microorganism containing the primer; and a rpoB polynucleotide specific for the serotype of a major Salmonella sp. microorganism. The present invention can be useful as a molecular identification method capable of replacing a conventional identification method of Salmonella serotype using antiserum.
