IGNITION-ASSISTED FUEL COMBUSTION SYSTEM

Номер: CA1220105A
Принадлежит: CATERPILLAR INC, CATERPILLAR INC.

Ignition-Assisted Fuel Combustion System Conventional direct injection internal combustion engines will not completely ignite and burn relatively lower-cetane-number fuels such as 100 percent methanol or ethanol because the fuel spray injection pattern usually cannot carry or propagate a flame to all the injected fuel which is typically made up of individual fuel streams which are separated by pockets of fuel-deficient intake air. The present fuel combustion system includes a fuel ignition-initiating device such as a glow plug and apparatus for interconnectedly contacting and continuously bridging all of the individual fuel streams with an auxiliary cloud of well-atomized fuel. In this manner, a flame initiated by the fuel ignitioninitiating device is rapidly and completely propagated via the auxiliary cloud of fuel to all the individual fuel streams.

CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR POSITIONING AN EARTHMOVING BLADE

Номер: CA1274605A
Принадлежит: CATERPILLAR INC, CATERPILLAR INC.

Control Circuit for Positioning An Earthmoving Blade Fluid control circuits are commonly used to control actuation of a pair of cylinders for positioning an earthmoving blade. The known circuits for providing the three operating modes of the cylinders utilize a separate control valve for each cylinder thereby making precise positioning of the blade difficult since such positioning requires coordinated control of both valves. The subject fluid control circuit includes a selector valve for determining the direction of fluid flow to and from the head end and rod ends of the tilt cylinders and a single control valve for modulatably controlling the fluid flow from the pump to the cylinders. With this circuit, the selector valve can be prepositioned in the desired position prior to actuating the control valve so that positioning of the blade is readily controlled by manipulation of only the single control valve.

REMOTE SENSOR WITH COMPENSATION FOR LEAD RESISTANCE

Номер: CA1238085A
Принадлежит: CATERPILLAR INC, CATERPILLAR INC.

Remote Sensor With Compensation For Lead Resistance An apparatus increases the accuracy of a signal delivered from a remote analog sensor to an analog to digital converter. The output of the sensor is derived from a ratio between the power applied and the sensed parameter; thus, any changes to the power applied affects the accuracy of the sensor output. It is, therefore, advantageous to closely control the voltage applied to the sensor. The apparatus monitors the voltage drop across the lead lines which extend between the sensor and a power supply and increases the voltage applied to the sensor by a magnitude corresponding to the lead line voltage drop. The accuracy of the sensor is preserved independent of the lead line length and resistance.

Номер: US20120067329A1
Автор:
Принадлежит: CATERPILLAR INC.

An efficient control wave form is utilized to actuate the solenoids of a fuel system to reduce boost power/energy consumption. The solenoid is initially energized by applying a boost voltage from an electronic controller across a solenoid coil circuit. The electronic controller monitors the current level in the solenoid coil circuit, and changes to a reduced battery voltage when the current level in the solenoid coil circuit reaches a predetermined trigger current. The controller then maintains a pull-in current based upon battery voltage for a pull-in duration that initiates movement of the solenoid armature from an initial air gap position toward a final air gap position. After the pull-in duration, the current level is dropped to a hold in level for the remaining duration of the actuation event. The solenoid may be used for fuel injector control and/or pump control, such as to control fuel injection and pumping events respectively. 1. In electrically heated screed assemblies, elements that are prone to failure are the temperature sensors. Typically, each screed plate has a single temperature sensor. When one temperature sensor fails, the controller will look for a working temperature sensor amongst the other screed plates and if more than one temperature sensor is working, the controller will choose the most relevant temperature sensor and use the data from the working temperature sensor to operate the resistive heating elements on the screed plate with the non-functional temperature sensor. If the temperature sensor on an outer screed plate fails, the controller will look to the other outer screed plate temperature sensor for data for purposes of operating the resistive heating elements on the outer screed plate with a broken temperature sensor. Similarly, if the temperature sensor on an inner or central screed plate fails, the controller will look to a neighboring screed plate with a working temperature sensor for data for purposes of operating the inner or center screed plate with the broken temperature sensor.
