The wild-life detection system uses an optical sensor (5) using the detectors (D1,D2,D3) supported at a given distance above the ground (WB) by the mowing or reaping machine (MF). The sensor (s) scans the working width of the machine (MF) with eradication of the contrast images, to detect wildlife, so that an acoustic and/or optical alarm signal is activated. Pref. the mowing or reaping machine can be halted by the driver, or automatically upon wildlife being detected. ADVANTAGE - Protects wildlife, e.g. young deer, before mowing or reaping cultivated area.

A b s t r a c t In order to improve an electrically excited, diffusion-cooled highpower laser comprising two wall surfaces slightly spaced from one another and forming an optical waveguide, the width of the wall surfaces being a multiple of the space between them and the surfaces enclosing between them a flow-free discharge chamber, and also comprising an optical resonator having resonator mirrors disposed at both ends of said waveguide, such that this results in a laser beam which can be well focused, it is suggested that the resonator be an optically unstable resonator including a beam path extending lengthwise of a resonator axis and having an expansion transverse to the resonator axis extending as far as at least one exiting laser beam and that the transverse expansion extend transversely to a longitudinal direction of the waveguide and approximately parallel to the wall surfaces.

A method and apparatus for remote aerial or satellite reconnaissance of the earth with the aid of line scanners. A series of overlapping individual still pictures is taken at regular time intervals with at least one optoelectric camera associated with at least one line scanner. Positions of corresponding pixels or picture zones in the overlapping zones of adjacent individual still pictures are selected for mutual orientation of the photographing positions of the still camera. Orientation data from the optoelectronic still camera is then transmitted to the line scanners by fixed orientation or measurement of the relative orientation, reinforced by a chronological association of both data streams.

The or each shielding member is movable on a circular path by the disc to alternately shield and reveal the hood covering the or each detector.
