The press part (3) acting upon the punch tool (11) is connected to a lever (5) pivotally mounted in the machine frame. This lever is connected to the punch tool via a roller (7.1) and intermediate lever (7), so that when the press part is in the resting position, the punch tool is raised, and the press part can be moved quickly in a downwards direction without encountering any force in order for it to reach a position immediately above the flat material, subsequent movement of the press part being through the deadpoint region at a very shallow angle, in order to generate a high press or punch pressure over a short path. Once punching, embossing or forming is complete, the press part is returned to its starting position, since the kinetic energy after the deadpoint region acts in the upwards direction. The machine is used to punch, emboss and/or form flat pieces or webs of paper, plastic, laminated paper, metal or similar material.

The stenter frame, to hold stretch materials (5) under a controlled tension, has moving grips (2) in or at the stenter frame profile in the X- and Y-directions or in radial and tangential directions at round frames. The grips are moved by an inflatable hose (1) at one side of them, with springs (4) on their other sides to move them back to release their grip on the material when the hose is deflated.
