The composition contains powdered polytetrafluoroethylene and a polyamide/imide resin in solution in an organic solvent. The composition may additionally contain a diluent and pigments and inorganic fillers. For coating metal surfaces or those made of materials withstanding a temperature of at least 220 DEG C, the composition is applied onto the previously degreased surface and the coating obtained is heated to a temperature of between 220 and 260 DEG C for 10 to 15 min to perform the polymerisation of the polyamide/imide resin.
