Protective garments are disclosed having an inner lining with high lubricity and high strength characteristics. The inner lining, in one embodiment, contains spun yarns combined with para-aramid multifilament yarns. The spun yarns may also contain flame resistant fibers, such as meta-aramid fibers, FR cellulose fibers, or mixtures thereof. The para-aramid filament yarns provide excellent strength characteristics to the fabric. In addition, in some embodiments, the multifilament yarns may enhance the fire resistant properties of the fabric. In one embodiment, the para-aramid filament yarns may have less than five twists per inch, such as from about 1 twist per inch to about four twists per inch.

Methods for stabilizing insulation and constructing garments from the insulation are disclosed. Methods include arranging the fibers into a plurality of bundle structures. The fibers may be synthetic fibers. The method may include receiving the bundle structures into bundle channels. The bundle channels are formed by tacks. The bundle channels enable the uniform distribution of the bundle structures prior to stitching quilting stitch lines. Multiple quilting stitch lines are stitched after the bundle structures are uniformly distributed. The quilting stitch lines are orthogonal to the longitudinal axis of the bundle structures. The quilting stitch lines provide lateral as well as longitudinal stabilization of the uniform density of the bundle structures. Pursuant to some embodiments, garments and methods of making such garments are provided in which the garment includes an outer panel the outer panel having a fastening mechanism formed therein, the outer panel providing a first viewable surface when the fastening mechanism is in a first position. The garment of claim 1 , wherein the garment is a jacket.3. The garment of claim 1 , wherein the outer panel is a rear panel of the garment and the fastening mechanism bisects the rear panel and extends from an upper edge of the rear panel to a bottom seam of the garment claim 1 , wherein the fastening mechanism bisects the rear panel in one of a symmetric and an asymmetric proportion.4. A system ( 10 ) for applying indicia to a reversible garment. The system is comprised of an indicia barrier ( 12 ) typically in the form of a square ( 14 ) and a reversible garment ( 38 ) that includes a first layer ( 40 ) with an inner section ( 42 ) and an outer section ( 44 ), and a second layer ( 46 ) with an inner section and an outer section. A re-sealable opening ( 58 ) having an opening fastener ( 60 ) allows the indicia barrier ( 12 ) to be inserted between either of the layers, thereby creating an impediment between the layers. Once the indicia barrier ( 12 ) is in place, indicia can be applied to one surface of the layer without also being applied to the adjoining layer. A puffer jacket configured to provide improved temperature regulation through graduated venting. In one embodiment, the jacket includes a back panel with baffles and insulation arranged to provide reduced insulation and increased venting of heat and humidity toward the center of the back. The back panel may include an alternating arrangement of insulation baffles (containing insulation) and vent baffles (free of insulation). The insulation baffles and vent baffles may be formed by joining inner and outer layers of fabric with laterally extending lines of stitching. Protective garments are disclosed having an inner lining with high lubricity and high strength characteristics. The inner lining, in one embodiment, contains spun yarns combined with para-aramid multifilament yarns. The spun yarns may also contain flame resistant fibers, such as meta-aramid fibers, FR cellulose fibers, or mixtures thereof. The para-aramid filament yarns provide excellent strength characteristics to the fabric. In addition, in some embodiments, the multifilament yarns may enhance the fire resistant properties of the fabric. In one embodiment, the para-aramid filament yarns may have less than five twists per inch, such as from about 1 twist per inch to about four twists per inch.
