The light-based system applies the electromagnetic radiation to the target region to effectuate photocrosslinking with the assistance of a photosensitizer on the keratin fiber and transition the keratin fiber from a first physical state to a second physical state. 1. A method of performing a cosmetic treatment , the method comprising:(a) applying a photosensitizer to a keratin fiber of a subject while the keratin fiber is in a first physical state; and(b) subjecting the keratin fiber and the photosensitizer to electromagnetic radiation selected to effectuate photocrosslinking or photoactivation on the keratin fiber to cause the keratin fiber to transition to a second physical state that is different than the first physical state.2. METHOD AND CHEMICAL COMPOSITIONS FOR RESHAPING HAIR

The current invention comprises methods and compositions for straightening hair. Using embodiments of the current invention, curly hair can be effectively and safely straightened by a method that is milder and less damaging than the current art and does not employ ingredients such as formaldehyde and glutaraldehyde that are considered noxious and raise significant toxicological concerns. In one or more embodiments of the invention, a low concentration of sodium hydroxide (˜0.5-0.6%) is applied prior to the application of an oil (preferably a vegetable oil), followed by treatment with a flat iron, or similar, heated to ˜180-200° C. In one or more alternative embodiments of the invention, the sodium hydroxide and oil-containing compositions are combined and applied to the hair in a single step. The improvements extended by this invention beyond the current art include: reduced damage to hair; reduced potential for damage to the skin and eyes; elimination of noxious chemicals; avoidance of chemical systems that are banned in a number of countries; greater resistance to reversion; longer lasting results; and as a consequence of these considerations, potential for home (non-professional) usage. 1. The present invention provides methods for simultaneously colouring and straightening the hair, for straightening the hair directly before or after a colouring treatment, and for straightening the hair directly before or after a bleaching treatment. Besides, the present invention also provides a method for straightening the hair by drying the hair with hot air under conditions of mechanical tension. The straightening methods of the present invention utilize compositions containing formaldehyde. 1. A process for treating hair , characterized in that it comprises the following steps performed in this order:(a) application of a dyeing/straightening composition comprising at least one direct dye and formaldehyde onto the hair;(b) leaving the composition on the hair for 1 to 120 minutes;(c) optionally rinsing off the hair;(d) drying the hair; and(e) treating the hair with an iron having a surface temperature of 180±50° C.(f) optionally rinsing off and/or shampooing the hair and drying.2. A hair straightening and/or hair relaxing method comprising:(a) applying a hair care composition to hair, wherein the composition comprises a sugar, a buffering agent and a cosmetically acceptable carrier; and wherein, where the composition is heated to a temperature of at least 100° C., the composition comprises from about 6% to about 20% reducing sugar, by weight of the hair care composition;(b) hair drying;(c) providing a hair straightening appliance at a temperature of from about 100° C. to about 280° C. and mechanically straightening the hair with the appliance;wherein the composition is substantially free of: formaldehyde, derivatives of formaldehyde, methylene glycol, formalin, and any compound that produces formaldehyde upon heating;and wherein the composition has a pH of from about pH 6 to about pH 10;wherein the method does not comprise a rinsing step between step (a) and step (c);and wherein the method does not use any coating material.2. The present invention provides a heating apparatus for heating a load. The heating apparatus comprises a heater having a heating element for receiving electrical power and for converting the electrical power into heat to heat a heating surface of the heater. The heating apparatus also comprises a temperature sensor for sensing and outputting a measurement of the temperature of the heating element, a power actuator for providing the electrical power to the heating element of the heater, a power sensor for sensing and outputting a measurement of the power provided to the heating element by the power actuator, and control circuitry for controlling the power actuator to control the power delivered by the power actuator to the heating element. The control circuitry is configured to receive the temperature measurement from the temperature sensor, receive the power measurement from the power sensor, combine the temperature measurement and the power measurement, and control the power actuator in dependence upon the combined temperature measurement and power measurement. This ensures that the temperature of the heating surface is constant throughout a period when the load is applied. 2. The present invention provides apparatus and a method for use in weaving elongate members together and most typically elongate members in the form of hair attached to the head of a person or a toy doll. The elongate members are provided in groups and the groups pass through passages in a weaving mechanism and along guide tubes which are located to the opposing side of the weaving mechanism from the item to which at least some of the elongate members are attached. Typically, relative movement of the weaving mechanism along the elongate members and the operation of the weaving mechanism cause the weave, such as in the form of plaiting, braiding or cornrowing to be formed.

Hair brush

A hair brush for use in a hairdressing store, a beauty shop, or at home, is able to easily and freely create a hair style by arranging flexible brush pins to a brush pedestal of the hairbrush so that the hair is easily entangled around the brush portion.
