The setting mechanism at the head can be blocked in various positions by ratchet means (22, 23, 24). Since the two setting mechanisms are combined in one fitment dependent on a single spring, manufacture and assembly costs are low whilst the bed can be fully adjusted by a person reclining on the bed since the head section is automatically raised up by the spring when the ratchets are released.
