Multilayer, paging, modular bed blanket system

This invention is a modular blanket system for double beds essentially built like a ring binder where the rings, called straps, are made of a flexible material and are closed by means of detachable fasteners such as hook-and-loop, snaps or buttons. The use of straps as a binding means allows blanket leaves to be added, subtracted or paged from one side to the other depending on the sleepers' need for warmth or decorative taste.

The system has an inflatable lining configured to be inserted and affixed into a cover together with the duvet, the inflatable lining comprising a network of pneumatic chambers defining a plurality of openings extending through the lining allowing air to circulate through the lining; and an air blower operatively connected to the inflatable lining for blowing air into the network of pneumatic chambers, so as in use, the inflatable lining is inflated to allow for the duvet and its cover to be straightened back into position after every use of the bed. The system can also include a sub-network for providing warm or cold air to control the temperature of the bedding. In contrast to traditional systems, the proposed invention is light weight and easily adaptable to current commercially available beds.

Bedclothes apparatus

A bedclothes apparatus includes a blanket sized to cover two occupants of a bed, first and second coverlets, a first fastener assembly operable to secure the first coverlet to a central section of the blanket to allow the first coverlet to be laid across a first segment of the blanket and to release the first coverlet from the central section of the blanket to allow the first coverlet to be moved away from the first segment and the central section of the blanket, and a second fastener assembly operable to secure the second coverlet to the central section of the blanket to allow the second coverlet to be laid across a second segment of the blanket and to release the second coverlet from the central section of the blanket to allow the second coverlet to be moved away from the second segment and the central section of the blanket.

Bed covering system

A bed covering system adapted to be used by a user to stay comfortable during sleep. The bed covering system includes a blanket and a pillowcase. The blanket has different heat retention zones of at least one section of heavy material and at least one section of lighter material. The heavy material is of material that retains body heat of the user. The lighter material is of a material that allows the escape of body heat of the user and allows circulation of body heat of the user. The heavy material has a higher weave count to trap and retain heat, and the lighter material is of thinner materials that permits more evaporation from a body of a user than the heavy material.

Sectionalised duvet

A sectionalised duvet 10 comprises a plurality of releasably connectable panels 12. Each panel 12, has an insulating layer interposed between first 14 and second 16 fabric cover layers. The sectionalised duvet may be flame resistant and each panel may be quilted by one or more lines of stitching that pass through the first and second fabric cover layers and the insulating layer. The panels are connected by releasable fasteners such as zippers 24, 26, 30, studs (36, 38 fig.4), buttons or hooks-and-eyes along at least two edges. In a preferred embodiment the fasteners may be along the top 18 and bottom 20 panel edges and a fabric strip (35 fig.4) may run along these edges to conceal the fastenings in use. Strips of bias binding may be provided on the at least two edges upon which the pairs of releasable fastenings are attached to the panels.

Bedding products

A bedding product comprises two fabric portions having different, respective warmths. The fabric portions are sized and positioned relative to each other to define two, physically distinct areas having different, corresponding warmths. A sheet set comprises a top sheet, a bottom sheet, and at least one pillow case, and the sheets are sized to cover both sides of a bed for two individuals. The top sheet and/or bottom sheet has two fabric portions with different, respective warmths, each portion sized and positioned on the sheet to substantially cover a respective side of the bed; the fabric portions are located relative to each other to define two, physically distinct areas having different, corresponding warmths. The present invention provides a weighted article for assisting sleep, wherein the weighted article includes heating and cooling means. The weighted article is perforated by a series of channels, which contribute to the weight of the weighted article and allow the passage of a fluid that is continuously pumped throughout the weighted article while the weighted article is in use. The weighted article is connected to a control unit including means to thermoelectrical heat or cool the fluid such that a user of the weighted article is able to increase or decrease their body temperature.

Improved batting insert materials for quilting are provided herein. The improved batting materials are adapted to be positioned between a quilt top and quilt bottom, and the materials advantageously prevent slippage of quilt layers during stitching without the need for pinning or basting. The insert materials generally comprise a batting layer and a flannel layer secured to the batting layer. The flannel layer is adapted to be positioned abutting the quilt bottom, and it has been discovered that the interaction between the surfaces of these fabrics prevents the layers from slipping. Quilts and methods utilizing the improved batting insert materials are also provided herein.

DUVET COVER SYSTEM HAVING CUSTOMIZABLE VARIABLE PERFORMANCE

A duvet cover system having customizable variable performance includes a cover layer and a duvet insert received in a pocket of the cover layer. The duvet insert includes first and second insert portions that may be removably connected to one another along a junction such that the insert portions cover different sides of the bed when the system is spread over the bed. The first insert portion defines at least two quantifiable performance factors including a first thermal retention value and a first air permeability value, and the second insert portion defines at least two quantifiable performance factors in a similar manner. However, these quantifiable performance factors of the first and second insert portions are different from one another to provide the different sleep experiences desired by users on opposite sides of the bed. The system still provides the desired appearance of a conventional duvet when fully assembled.

A bedding system, method and kit for the automation and ventilation of an existing duvet are disclosed. CO-SLEEPING COMFORTER FOR INFANT PROTECTION

The present invention is a system and method for providing a comforter that is divided into three sections or panels, wherein a center panel of the comforter may be pulled down while allowing the remaining two outer panels to remain up and on top of the other occupants of the bed on either side of the center panel, wherein a small infant sleeper crib may be placed in the gap between the two outer panels of the comforter without any danger of the infant being covered by the center panel.

The encasement comprises an opening with a zipper mechanism disposed therein and operable to close the opening. The encasement also comprises a barrier attached to the fabric cover, extending along and opposite the zipper tracks. The encasement also comprises a channel between the barrier and said zipper tracks that receives a portion of the zipper head and becomes an enclosed channel when said zipper tracks are mated together. The bedding product can have a plain body attached to a colored hem which is made color fast so as to inhibit fading of the colored hem and/or prevent bleeding, crocking, and/or running of color from the colored hem onto the plain body during the useful life of the bedding product. The colored hem can be made color fast by a method including selecting a fabric, selecting dyes based on the fabric, preparing the fabric such as by mercerizing, applying the dyes, and treating the dyed fabric to remove unfixed dyes contained in the fabric to improve subsequent colorfastness.

A patient repositioning system for pulling a patient toward a head end of a bed includes a sheet, a mattress, and a housing which contains at least a part of a drive mechanism for operatively coupling to and pulling the sheet. The housing resides below a head end piece of the mattress, and is secured to the bed deck. The sheet pulling structure extends out of the housing via a slot and releasably attaches to the sheet, in a manner which has a low profile so as to pass through the slot. The sheet is longer than and wider than the mattress, and has beaded longitudinal side edges which are retained within rows of spaced retainers located on opposite sides of the mattress. During pulling of the sheet, the contoured shape of the housing facilitates movement of the sheet into the housing via the slot, even though the sheet width extends beyond the lateral edges of the mattress. The visual wear indicator is configured to indicate to the user that the cover has been through a threshold number of cleanings. When the wear layer has reduced its thickness to the threshold thickness, or has disintegrated, the wear layer reveals the visual wear indicator, indicating to the user that the cover is ready for replacement.

Flexible Material Tightener

A cord with an outer fabric covering over a sheath and draw string is used to secure a flexible sheet to a solid object, such as a mattress, table, pool, or ironing board. In some embodiments, the cord is a string lacking a sheath and draw string. The cord has a series of clips attached there-to by a second cord or by direct attachment. The clips are in turn removably attachable to edges of a sheet. One then tightens the draw string, reducing the length of the cord, and continues to do so until the sheet is pulled to a bottom side of an object. In this manner, the sheet ends are beneath the mattress and tightened thereto by the cord. A passive mattress encasement is disclosed which can be relatively easily installed or removed over a mattress supported by a foundation. The encasement is formed to encapsulate a mattress and includes a top panel, a bottom panel and multiple side panels. One or more of the side panels are zippered together. The unzippered side panels, i.e., the panels without zippers, fixedly connect the top panel to the bottom panel. The top and bottom panels as well as the side panels may be made from conventional materials. The system includes a plurality of differently configured pillows; and, a plurality of pillow cover napkins each configured to rest upon one of the pillows in acting as a cleanliness barrier for a person's head resting on the pillow. Advantageously, the system allows for a user to sample various bedding, including mattresses and/or pillows, in a hygienic manner. In particular, the system allows for a user to select a pillow from the differently configured pillows which is suited to one's preferences to use in sampling various mattresses. The napkin is placed by the user atop the selected pillow in sampling the mattresses. The napkin acts as a cleanliness barrier between the user's head and the sampled bedding. A patient repositioning system for pulling a patient toward a head end of a bed includes a sheet, a mattress, and a housing which contains at least a part of a drive mechanism for operatively coupling to and pulling the sheet. The housing resides below a head end piece of the mattress, and is secured to the bed deck. The sheet pulling structure extends out of the housing via a slot and releasably attaches to the sheet, in a manner which has a low profile so as to pass through the slot. The sheet is longer than and wider than the mattress, and has beaded longitudinal side edges which are retained within rows of spaced retainers located on opposite sides of the mattress. During pulling of the sheet, the contoured shape of the housing facilitates movement of the sheet into the housing via the slot, even though the sheet width extends beyond the lateral edges of the mattress. The sheet may include indicia for indicating a “loaded” condition, and also usage indicia to indicate that it is time for a new sheet to be used. 1.
