A method for operating a robotic cleaner , the method comprising:generating at least one map including information regarding a space to be cleaned by using information measured by at least one sensor;setting a cleaning path by using the at least one map; andcleaning according to the cleaning path,wherein the at least one map includes at least one of a first map that indicates a cleaning complete state, a second map that indicates activity of dynamic objects, a third map that indicates reachability of the robotic cleaner, a fourth map that indicates a cleaning state, and a fifth map that indicates an area difficult to be cleaned.2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first map includes information regarding objects in the space to be cleaned.3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the second map represents activity by using one of a level area map and a grid map.4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the third map indicates at least one of a reachable area claim 1 , an unreachable area claim 1 , an area reachable but not suitable for a cleaning operation claim 1 , and an area temporarily unreachable.5. A vacuum cleaner , comprising:a chassis having a carriage fixed to the chassis and wheels coupled to the carriage for facilitating movement of the vacuum cleaner over a surface to be cleaned;a nozzle unit with a suction nozzle;a suction source provided on the chassis in fluid communication with the suction nozzle for generating a working airstream; anda mechanical linkage coupling the nozzle unit to the carriage of the chassis, wherein the mechanical linkage comprises a horizontal degree of freedom and a vertical degree of freedom to displace the nozzle unit horizontally and vertically, relative to the surface to be cleaned, independently of the chassis, such that the suction nozzle can float horizontally and vertically relative to the chassis;wherein the mechanical linkage is configured to automatically lift the suction nozzle away from the surface to be cleaned upon a predetermined resistance force being applied to a forward side or a rearward side of the nozzle unit during a forward or backward stroke of the vacuum cleaner across the surface to be cleaned.2. A latch mounts in an opening on the lidcage of a conventional vacuum cleaner. A stationary piece has a hooked arm that locks against an edge on the lidcage, and can be clipped in place without other fasteners. It also has a hose fence that helps hold a stored hose. A movable piece has a tongue that slides within a channel on the stationary piece. When locked, the tongue engages the bead and a lock latches onto an edge, inhibiting the tongue from moving to the unlocked position. The lock is on an actuator tab that extends from the stationary piece and can be deflected by a user to release the lock. A spaced finger edge may be engaged by a user while pressing the actuator tab. A barb on the tongue engages the same edge that the lock latches onto, and resists removal of the tongue from the channel.
