The method for increasing the skin's permeability requires applying the controlled abrasion device to a portion of the skin's surface for a short period of time. The desired level of skin impedance, and thus the resulting permeability of the treated site, can be set at a predetermined value. Alternatively, the level of skin impedance can be selected based on the desired level of skin integrity, the subject's sensation of discomfort, or the duration of the application. The method of claim 1 , wherein the reactive reinforcing component has a viscosity of between about 5 claim 1 ,000 and about 1 claim 1 ,000 claim 1 ,000 cSt or cP at 25° C.3. A method for removing tattoos using two laser beams and a multi-photon process is disclosed. A 0.1 to 100 nsec pulse secondary laser beam focused to 10 8 W/cm 2 creates a temporary channel from the skin surface to the tattoo pigment. A 100 fsec pulse main laser beam is then guided through the channel to the pigment and focused to sufficient intensity, i.e., 10 12 W/cm 2 or more, to initiate a multi-photon process that breaks up the pigment, disrupting its light reflecting properties. The channel allows the main laser beam unobstructed passage to the pigments, resulting in efficient use of the main laser. The pigment fragments escape through the temporary channel or diffuse into the blood stream. A suitably configured Ti/Sapphire laser beam is split into two components, with an uncompressed component used as the secondary laser beam, and a compressed component as the main laser beam.

The invention incorporates a source of radiofrequency electrical energy coupled to a coil, with a requisite impedance matching network, thereby resulting in the production of an alternating magnetic field. When tissue is brought into proximity of the alternating magnetic field, inductive heating of the tissue results, as a consequence of either or both of dipole formation and oscillation, and eddy current formation. Optionally, cooling is provided to remove heat from the coil, the source of radiofrequency electrical energy, and/or the surface of the skin.

An apparatus and method for performing non-invasive treatment of the human face and body by electroporation in lieu of cosmetic surgery is provided. The apparatus comprises a high voltage pulse generator and an applicator having two or more electrodes in close mechanical and electrical contact with the patient's skin for applying the pulses to the patient's skin. The applicator may consist of two pieces with one electrode having a sharp tip and another having a flat surface. High voltage pulses delivered to the electrodes create at the tip of the sharp electrode an electric field high enough to cause death of relatively large subcutaneous fat cells by electroporation. Moving the electrode tip along the skin creates a line of necrotic subcutaneous fat cells, which later are metabolized by the body. Multiple applications of the electrode along predetermined lines on the face or neck create shrinkage of the skin and the subcutaneous fat volume underlying the treated area.

The present invention generally relates to the field of laser treatment of tissue, and particularly, to a system and method for creating microablated channels in skin. A laser system comprising:a laser source and a source of RF energy including at least two electrodes to contact the skin tissue;a laser emitting device coupled to the laser source and configured to apply laser energy to skin tissue to ablate the skin tissue;an RF emitting device coupled to the source of RF energy and configured to apply RF energy to the at least two electrodes;a controller configured to control a treatment program and cause application of the laser energy based on treatment parameters received via an input interface and to direct the laser emitting device to apply the laser energy at one or more of a plurality of sites within a treatment area of the tissue to ablate one or more microchannels at one or more of the plurality of sites, each of the one or more ablated microchannels having a bottom whose depth extends at least into the dermis region of the tissue;the controller configured to control a treatment program and to cause application of the RF energy to the at least two electrodes;the controller configured to and cause to first ablate one or more microchannels in the skin tissue and second to apply RF energy to the skin tissue through the at least two electrodes placed on the skin tissue on either side of an ablated channel;whereby the presence of the channel between the two electrodes causes the RF energy to flow between the two electrodes below the bottom or around of the formed microchannel, thus directing RF energy to deeper skin tissue than would have occurred in the absence of the microchannel.21.
