In some embodiments, the inflatable element uses a material of a predetermined permeability for a given density of fluid and a given thickness of the inflatable element such that an inflation pressure drops from 1.2 atmospheres to 1 atmospheres in 8 hours after the inflatable element is pressurized to 1.2 atmospheres. An energy harvester device located into an in-ear device and harvesting energy from dynamic motion of the wall of the outer ear canal receiving the in-ear device therein, with an external sheath of the in-ear device generally assuming the contour of the ear canal wall. The energy harvester device has an energy harvesting module mounting on an inner portion of the in-ear device adjacent the external sheath, and is at least partially elastically deformable under a displacement of the ear canal wall to generate energy corresponding to the displacement of the wall. An energy storage module mounts onto the in-ear device and connects to the energy harvesting module to receive energy there from and supplying the stored energy to an electronic device of the in-ear device. The in-ear device having the energy harvester device therein is also part of the present invention.

In some embodiments, the inflatable element uses a material of a predetermined permeability for a given density of fluid and a given thickness of the inflatable element such that an inflation pressure drops from 1.2 atmospheres to 1 atmospheres in 8 hours after the inflatable element is pressurized to 1.2 atmospheres. The foldable element is disposed on the insertion element and is configured to receive a medium via the insertion element. The expandable element is disposed over the foldable element. The foldable element is configured to unfold, responsive to the medium, and cause the expandable element to expand to contact the ear canal. 1. A device for occluding an ear canal , comprising:a foldable element configured to receive a medium;an expandable element disposed over the foldable element,wherein the foldable element is configured to unfold upon receiving the medium and the expandable element is configured to expand when the foldable element unfolds, andwherein the foldable element has a different Young's modulus than a Young's modulus of the expandable element.2. The device of claim 1 , further comprising an insertion element claim 1 , wherein the foldable element is disposed on the insertion element and the foldable element is configured to receive the medium using the insertion element3. 본 발명은 내관과 외관의 이중구조로 이루어지고, 내관의 일단이 열팽창에 의해 신장 가능하도록 설치하여 배관의 변형이 방지되고 외부로의 열전달을 감소시키는 고온, 고압용 이중배관에 관한 것으로서, 고온, 고압의 환경에서 사용되는 플랜트 설비의 배관에 사용되어 내관의 열이 외부로 전달되는 것을 감소시켜 플랜트 설비 등의 열효율을 저하시키지 않고, 열팽창시 배관의 신장을 흡수할 수 있도록 하여 배관의 뒤틀림과 같은 변형이 방지되는 고온, 고압용 이중배관을 제공하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 상기한 목적을 달성하기 위한 본 발명에 따른 이중배관은 내관과, 상기 내관의 외측으로 소정간격 이격되게 배치된 외관과, 상기 내관 및 외관의 일단부가 접합되는 제1플랜지와, 상기 외관의 타단부가 접합되고 상기 내관의 타단부와 소정거리 이격된 제2플랜지를 포함한다. A method for impairing hearing by applying an acoustic dampening fluid to the external ear canal. The fluid contains an oily or non—aqueous substance and an inert solvent such as water, alcohol or glycol. It may also contain thickeners like povidone and cellulose gums, surfactants such as nonoxinol, smart emulsion, foaming agents, vapour pressure reducers such as caprylic triglycerides, pH buffers, diluents and preservatives. Preferably, the fluid is delivered as a gel and then slowly foams once it has been applied to the ear canal, the rate of foaming being controlled by a stabiliser such xanthan gum. The mousse degrades after several hours or days. The method can be used to desensitise animals to sounds such as fireworks by iteratively diluting the fluid with purified water and thereby reducing the amount of acoustic dampening.

An earplug is provided for use by an airplane passenger, which more slowly increases the pressure of air in the passenger's ear canal than the rate of increase in cabin air pressure as the airplane descends near the end of a flight. The earplug has a cavity ( 30 ) that is open to the front end ( 20 ) of the earplug, and with a restrictor ( 24 ) at the front end of the cavity that allows air to pass between the cavity and ear canal, and the cavity to collapse, only at a very slow rate. As the environmental air pressure increases near the end of a flight, the earplug is slowly compressed in diameter and compresses the cavity.

An inflatable in-ear device (1 ) includes a core member (2) with a platform (12) provided with a sealing assembly in the form of a locating recess (20) for the registration of a retention ring (34) formed around a defining opening of a sheath (32) arranged in close circumjacent manner around the platform (12) attached to the core member (2), an abutment surface (20') being formed on a capping (22) for the platform (12) and the core member (2) whereby in use positive location of the retention ring (34) within the recess (20) is achieved by the closure of the recess (20) by the abutment surface (20'). A space (50) is defined between the sheath (32) and the core member (2) for the injection of a settable material used for the inflation of the sheath (32) once the device (1) is emplaced within the ear canal (4) of the ear.
