The method proposed for coating involves the surface pretreatment of gutta-percha cones with sodium hydroxide; immersion of gutta-percha cones in simulated body fluid, which contains calcium and phosphate ions; and replacing consumed simulated body fluid after an interval of time, at physiological pH and temperature. The nucleation process results in the biomimetic deposition of a thin and uniform layer of calcium phosphates and hydroxyapatite. Improved characteristics such as in sealing ability, bonding strength, and ability to form hermetic seal, therefore allows the dental composite produced, to be used appropriately as filling matter in root canal treatments.

The fluoride releasing composition of claim 1 , further comprising a hydrogenated ester rosin.8. The fluoride releasing composition of claim 1 , wherein at least −20 microgram/square centimeter of the fluoride is released from the composition in no more than one hour after application.10. The time-release dental adhesive is made as a two-part preparation to increase shelf life. The first part contains three monomers (hydroxyethyl methacrylate [HEMA], triethyleneglycol dimethacrylate [TEG-DMA], and bisphenol A di(ethyl-methacrylate) [BPA-DEMA]), glycerol, a polymerization catalyst, a filler, and a stabilizer. The second part contains the same three monomers listed above, an acrylic resin to increase viscosity, an accelerator, a filler, and a sugar or sugar-based sweetener. When desired for use, the two parts are mixed in a 1:1 ratio by weight. The adhesive cures to a strong, hard bonding agent, but gradually weakens in the presence of moisture to provide a time-release adhesive. The amount of elapsed time before release of the adhesive may be controlled by changing the quantity of sugar or sugar-based sweetener in the adhesive.
