A particular embodiment of the present invention is a glove with a small convex metal strip sewed onto the lower part of the thumb extending over the top of the thumb to the wrist. The strip can resemble a portion of a tape measure in some embodiments. This strip can be positioned so that it bends and clicks when the hands are in exactly the right position to indicate that the bat or club is correct for a maximum power swing. The strip can click a second time during the power stroke itself. The present invention is not limited to baseball and/or golf, but may be used with any sport that requires swinging such as tennis and other sports.

A swing training device. A plurality of legs is pivotally connected to a base. A bottom support tube is rigidly connected to the base. A height adjustment tube is inserted into the bottom support tube. The height of the height adjustment tube is controlled by a height adjustment controller. A lower band holder is rigidly connected to the upper end of the height adjustment tube. A band tube is positioned between the lower band holder at its lower end and an upper band holder at its upper end. A plurality of elastic bands are connected between the lower band holder and the upper band holder. A pivot piece is rigidly connected to the upper band holder. A rotation stick having a hittable ball is pivotally connected to the pivot piece. The bottom support tube, the height adjustment tube and the band tube form a rotation axis. When a user hits the ball then the ball and the rotation stick rotate about the rotation axis in an initial rotation direction causing the elastic bands to stretch and wrap around the band tube. The elastic bands then act as a spring causing the ball and rotation stick to rotate back in an opposite direction to simulate a pitch to the user so that the user can hit again. For easy transport and storage, the rotation stick pivots downward and the legs pivot upwards so that they are all parallel with the rotation axis.

The feedback may be provided with an audible sound, a digital readout (of yellow, red and green lights) and/or with a digital score. The information could be stored electronically such that it may be downloaded to, or by wireless transmission to external devices and used to track progress on swing quality over time for players and coaches.

In use the golfer addresses the golf ball with club in hand with the device display and impact detector sitting beyond the ball an appropriate distance (e.g., approximately 6 inches) in line with golfers eyes, club and ball. When the club is brought through impact with ball, the ball impact detector detects the impact and the system generates an image on the display. The image is selected in an apparently random fashion from a set of images that includes those of an advertising or promotional nature. The images and can include text, graphic, logos, and the like.
