Apparatus and a method for removing suspended particles from water in a circular tank having a distribution and flocculation chamber immersed in the tank of water and carried circularly around the tank by a carriage. Flocculating material and inlet water are introduced into the body of water from the moving flocculating chamber at the same rate as clarified water is discharged through a filter substantially covering the bottom of the tank. A majority of particles in the water is collected by flocs in the water and floated to the water surface by air bubble action. The floating sludge is removed by a spiral scoop carried by the carriage. The water is then passed through the bottom filter which removes the remaining flocs completing the clarification of the water for discharge. Apparatus is provided for selectively back washing sections of the filter while the remainder of the filter is in operation.

Water enters filters 5 by punched apertures 16 and leaves by apertures 14 in sleeves 7, which are shaped to stack vertically forming a vertical filtrate duct leading to lower outlet (4). Beds 15 are shielded by frustoconical baffles 17 and by the flaps formed when apertures 16 are punched inwards. Rings 10 seal the filters 5 together where sleeves 7 engage, and filters 5 may be unstacked after removing the upper part of the casing, enabling sand beds to be replaced by porous bodies &c., or vice versa.

Apparatus and a method for removing suspended particles from water in a circular tank having a distribution and flocculation chamber immersed in the tank of water and carried circularly around the tank by a carriage. Flocculating material and inlet water are introduced into the body of water from the moving flocculating chamber at the same rate as clarified water is discharged through a filter substantially covering the bottom of the tank. A majority of particles in the water is collected by flocs in the water and floated to the water surface by air bubble action. The floating sludge is removed by a spiral scoop carried by the carriage. The water is then passed through the bottom filter which removes the remaining flocs completing the clarification of the water for discharge. Apparatus is provided for electively back washing sections of the filter while the remainder of the filter is in operation.

The mesh filter of claim 1 , wherein the first mesh member is positioned at a lower end of the mesh filter.3. Apparatus for removing suspended particles from water comprises outer and inner concentrically arranged tanks and a carriage arranged on top of the outer tank for movement around the same. Unclarified water is introduced into the inner tank along with flocculating material for combining with the suspended particles in the water, and the mixture passes from the inner to the outer tank. Gaseous bubbles are introduced into the mixture for attaching to the flocculated suspended particles and floating them to the surface of the water in the outer tank, forming a sludge layer thereon. A scoop device mounted on the carriage removes the sludge for discharge from the apparatus. A plurality of filter beds are arranged near the bottom of the outer tank for removing the remaining precipitated flocs to complete the clarification of the water for discharge, and suction apparatus is arranged above the filter beds for cleaning the same. Timer means control the positioning of the suction apparatus over predetermined filter beds and the cleaning operation thereof.

The top of each filter bed is provided with a valved outlet member leading to a conduit primarily for receiving dirty fluid by back wash and for discharging it from the vessel, the influent and the first named filtered fluid effluent valves being closed and the last named outlet member valves being opened.

Apparatus and a method for removing suspended particles from water in a circular tank having a distribution and flocculation chamber immersed in the tank of water and carried circularly around the tank by a carriage. Flocculating material and inlet water are introduced into the body of water from the moving flocculating chamber at the same rate as clarified water is discharged through a filter substantially covering the bottom of the tank. A majority of particles in the water is collected by flocs in the water and floated to the water surface by air bubble action. The floating sludge is removed by a spiral scoop carried by the carriage. The water is then passed through the bottom filter which removes the remaining flocs completing the clarification of the water for discharge. Apparatus is provided for selectively back washing sections of the filter while the remainder of the filter is in operation.

Double pile for purifying low permeable contaminated ground and method for purifying low permeable contaminated ground by using the same

PURPOSE: A double pile for purifying low permeable contaminated ground is provided which is consisted of inner pipe, outer pipe and filler filled therebetween to perform purification of contaminated soil and solidification and stabilization of purified ground in one step, and a method for purifying low permeable contaminated ground by using the same is provided. CONSTITUTION: The double pile(20) for purifying low permeable contaminated ground comprises an inner pipe(12), an outer pipe and a filler(14) filled in a space between the inner pipe and the outer pipe, wherein holes(16) are longitudinally formed on the inner pipe and the outer pipe respectively in such a way that the holes are perforated perpendicularly to a longitudinal direction of the inner pipe and the outer pipe, wherein the filler comprises oyster shell. The method for purifying low permeable contaminated ground comprises a step (A) of installing the double pile for purifying low permeable contaminated ground into the low permeable contaminated ground; and a step (B) of discharging contaminated underground water collected in an inner passageway of the installed double pile for purifying low permeable contaminated ground using a suction device, wherein the suction device is a pump(24), wherein the method further comprises a step (C) of injecting a ground stabilizer into the low permeable contaminated ground(2') through the inner passageway of the installed double pile for purifying low permeable contaminated ground, and wherein the ground stabilizer is cement or a mixture of cement and fly ash.

Also provided is a backwashing water tank that is interconnected with the filtered water chamber in order to store filtered water for backwashing. Further provided is an interconnection unit that interconnects the backwashing water tank, the filtered water chamber of one filtration backwashing unit, and the filtered water chamber of another filtration backwashing unit. The gravity filtration device is configured in a manner so that the filtration units of the plurality of filtration backwashing units are arrayed in the vertical direction, the plurality of filtration backwashing units are configured in parallel to each other in a manner so as to recover the filtered water from each of the filtration backwashing units, the backwashing water tank is disposed above the uppermost raw water chamber of the plurality of filtration backwashing units, and the filtered water in the filtered water chambers percolates through the filtration units from the bottom of the top by means of the siphoning effect in the backwashing tube, thus backwashing the filtration units.

A method and a device for a liquid filtration, polluted liquid being fed into a filtration device (1) above a filter (28) and a portion of the filtrate, obtained in this way, being reversed for a counter flushing and thereby a cleaning of the filter. The object of the invention is to run the process continuously, and this object is achieved according to the invention by dividing the device into a number of cells (11-14), each one of which contains its filter and which cells are mounted around a main chamber (9) for the filtrate. The cells communicate with the main chamber via their respective intermediate chambers (20-23) and openings (24-27) located in the common partition wall. The opening of the cell, which is to be subjected to a counter flushing, is connected, by means of a driving unit (46), to a reversed liquid flow, and simultaneously the inlet opening (34-37) for polluted liquid to this cell is blocked and a connection to a flushing liquid outlet established. While the counter flushing of one cell is in progress, the rest of the cells continue to filtrate polluted liquid.
