Uniform wetting of granulates, especially those to be subjected to swelling and in partic. styrene divinyl benzene treated with dichloro ethane for sulphocation exchange reactions is achieved by a device using centrifugal force. A closed cylindrical vessel with hollow central shaft having radial openings for feeding in and spraying the liq. and fitted with at least one cone shaped shell into which granulate is fed from the centrifugal force controlled top inlet is employed. The rotating conical shell is surrounded by a fixed funnel shaped baffle forming a narrow gap between its outward curved rim and that of the cone. Accurate dosage of both agents is possible. Granulate slides into the rotating cone via the baffle inside and each granule is exposed to sprayed liq. Wetted granules creep up the cone inside under centrifugal force and overflow through the gap into the next lower cone/baffle stage, etc. If the device is used for swelling, the cylindrical vessel carries a lower part, sepd.

The composition is a mixture of particles of at least two different colours. The particles are preferably agglomerated into composite particles of mean particle size 15 to 75 microns for application by electrostatic spray.

The present invention provides a method and apparatus for agglomerating hydrophobic particles from a feed slurry. The method comprises adding a binder to a feed stream and conveying the feed stream and binder to an agglomerating device. The binder comprises 50% or more by volume of a non-hydrophobic substance. A high shear is applied to the feed stream and the binder in the agglomerating device to cause the hydrophobic particles to collide and bind to the binder, thereby agglomerating the hydrophobic particles. The conical shell has, at least partially, sheet-like gas passages in the form of perforations or screens. The method for drying pourable products provides for dry gas to be fed in a sheet like manner to the products to be dried during the radially peripheral circulation of the products without the products being swirled up and being exposed to unacceptable compressive, concussive and/or frictional loads.

A mixing system with a vessel for supplying a liquid and a device for supplying solid pieces to mix with the liquid. The system has an elongate enclosure with a first end opposing a second end. The enclosure defines a chamber in fluid communication with the vessel to receive the liquid. The chamber also has a inlet and an outlet with the inlet being closer to the first end than the outlet. The chamber receives the pieces from the device through the inlet and issues the pieces through the outlet. A motor driven mixing auger positioned in the chamber between the first and second ends rotates a selected direction about a rotational axis to intermix the liquid and pieces. The auger includes a first helical flight between the inlet and the outlet to convey the pieces from the inlet to the outlet when the shaft is rotated the selected direction. The auger also includes a second helical flight between the first flight and the second end to urge the solid pieces in a direction opposite the first flight. The second flight has a length along the rotational axis of the auger shorter than the first flight. In one variation of this system, the liquid may be a colorant and the solid pieces may include wood chips to be intermixed with the liquid to attain a uniform visual appearance.

Способ заключается в размоле в сухой фазе и приготовлении глинистых керамических композиций, без связующих, добавок или дефлокулянтов, из глинистых минералов (примерно 60%), смешанных с неорганическими материалами, с размером частиц менее 120 мкм, в горизонтальном вращающемся цилиндрическом устройстве с изменяющими направление движения композиции лопатками; ввод указанных минералов, порошкообразных материалов и воды осуществляют на одном торце указанного устройства, при вращении указанного устройства образуются гранулы, которые перемещают посредством указанных изменяющих направление движения лопаток. Выход для гранулированного материала расположен на противоположном торце указанного устройства. Данное изобретение предоставляет следующие преимущества: энергосбережение, составляющее примерно 80%; 75-80% снижение потребления воды в ходе гранулирования и 10-20% дополнительной экономии на давлении для прессования гранул. A free-flowing granulate of a powder-form or fine-grained component and a liquid component the granulate containing at least 20% by weight of the liquid component, is prepared by moving the powder-form or fine-grained component in a mixer-granulator, adding the liquid component while mixing until a moist granulate having a particle size of at most 1.5 mm is obtained, subsequently coarsening the granulate thus obtained with an increase in temperature to a particle size of from 0.4 to 4 mm and optionally coating this coarse granulate with another powder-form and/or fine-grained component at 60 DEG to 90 DEG C. The optionally coated granulate is converted by lowering the treatment temperature into a dry-looking, free-flowing, coarse-grained product, which if desired, may be coated with another powder-form and/or fine-grained material. Despite the high percentage of a liquid component, the granulate thus obtained appears as a dry granulate and is free-flowing.
