The olefins of formula <IMAGE> in which the symbols R represent hydrogen or certain hydrocarbon radicals, are converted to the corresponding epoxides by reacting with hydrogen peroxide at pH 6-9, in the presence of a catalyst containing an arsenic, antimony or bismuth derivative, for example an organometallic derivative, and a derivative of an element of groups IVA, VA or VIA of the periodic system, for example a carbonyl derivative of molybdenum, tungsten, titanium or vanadium. The reaction is carried out between 0 and 100 DEG C and between 0 and 100 bars. The catalyst involved has a long lifetime and makes it possible to obtain good selectivity towards the epoxide.

Case 4571 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Acetaldehyde is produced by reacting methanol with hydrogen and carbon monoxide at elevated temperature and pressure in the presence of a catalyst comprising cobalt, an iodide or a bromide and one of the elements arsenic, antimony or bismuth, either in the form of the free element or a compound thereof, and in the additional presence of one or more of the following additives: (i) an inert liquid such as chlorobenzene, decanoic acid, a polydimethylsiloxane fluid or a methyl phenyl silicone fluid, (ii) an acid and/or an acid derivative such as acetic acid, acetic anhydride, propionic acid, phenylacetic acid, benzoic acid, methyl acetate or butyl acetate. (iii) an oxygen-containing organic compound such as 1,4-dioxane, tetrahydrofuran, di-n-propylether, diphenylether, acetone, acetaldehyde, n-propanol or n-butanol. (iv) a non-polar solvent such as an alkane, benzene or an alkyl-substituted benzene. The invention also relates to a combination of an oligomerisation catalyst and a catalyst activator as set out above and to the use of such a combination in an oligomerisation process. The preferred transition metal is Cr and the preferred ligating compounds are (R1)2 P (NR7) P (R2)2, [tris-N, N, N-(ethylhexyl)] 1, 3, 5-triaza cyclohexane and (decyl-S-Cu2Cu2)2NH. The solid base can be a solid solution of metal oxides and/or a layered double hydroxide (LDH) and the secondary component can be calcium oxide, magnesium oxide, calcium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide. The process involves contacting a sour hydrocarbon fraction which contains mercaptans with the catalyst in the presence of an oxidizing agent and a polar compound. Examples of these polar compounds are water and alcohols, with methanol being especially preferred. The process is unique in that the solid solution or LDH are solid bases which eliminates the need for a liquid base. Optionally, an onium compound may be used as a catalyst promoter.

The polymer-immobilized photosensitizers comprise a cross-linked polymer backbone, a plurality of cationic ammonium or phosphonium groups covalently bound to the polymer backbone and an immobilized photosensitizer. The average total number of carbon atoms in the ammonium or phosphonium group is at least four and preferably at least 12. The photosensitizer can be either covalently or ionically bound to the polymer. Polymer-supported photosensitizers of the invention are unexpectedly superior in catalyzing the photosensitized oxidation of compounds containing carbon-carbon double bonds.

A catalyst and a process for using the catalyst have been developed. The catalyst is a metal chelate dispersed on a basic support which is a combination of a solid base and a secondary component. The solid base can be a solid solution of metal oxides and/or a layered double hydroxide (LDH) and the secondary component can be calcium oxide, magnesium oxide, calcium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide. The process involves contacting a sour hydrocarbon fraction which contains mercaptans with the catalyst in the presence of an oxidizing agent and a polar compound. Examples of these polar compounds are water and alcohols, with methanol being especially preferred. The process is unique in that the solid solution or LDH are solid bases which eliminates the need for a liquid base. Optionally, an onium compound may be used as a catalyst promoter.

A method for the manufacture of a (GPF) gasoline particulate filter (also referred to as a catalyst-coated wall-flow filter substrate) for the treatment of an exhaust gas, the method comprising: forming a washcoat slurry; coating a wall-flow filter substrate with the washcoat slurry to form a washcoated substrate; and calcining the washcoated substrate to form a gasoline particulate filter. The washcoat slurry comprises a platinum group metal selected from Pt, Pd, Rh and mixtures thereof; an oxygen storage capacity (OSC) material; and a C2-C6 aliphatic amino acid. The aliphatic amino acid can have the formula HO2C-(CH2)n-NH2, wherein n is from 1-5; preferably n is 2, e.g. 3-amino-propionic acid. The amount of aliphatic amino acid in the slurry can be 1-50wt% relative to the slurry crucible solids. The slurry can comprise Pt and Rh or Pd and Rh, and the OSC material may comprise a mixed oxide of: cerium and zirconium; cerium, zirconium and aluminium; cerium, zirconium and neodymium; or cerium, zirconium and praseodymium. Preferably the OSC material is a cerium-zirconium mixed oxide nano sol with a mean particle size of less than 1µm. The slurry can further comprise an inorganic oxide support e.g. a gamma alumina.

本发明公开了一种不含贵金属的消除甲醛的负载型催化剂,选用活性炭为载体材料,以化合物A和无机铵B为活性成分。其中,化合物A和无机铵B的负载量均为载体材料重量的1%~20%;且化合物A和无机铵B之间有一定的添加比例。制备方法:称取一定重量的活性炭,采用等量浸渍法,按照该活性炭的水容量量取去离子水;称取化合物A和无机铵B加入量好的去离子水中,搅拌至充分溶解后配置成浸渍液;将配置好的浸渍液均匀倒入活性炭载体上,并不断搅拌,待充分浸渍后,将混合料装入密封袋内,静置1~4h后于一定温度下烘干,烘干温度为40~160℃。在制备过程中不负载任何贵金属成分,与传统添加贵金属的催化剂相比,制备工艺简单,成本低廉。
