Method of dispensing fluid are disclosed. The method initially determines, based upon an image of a first electronic substrate, that a first or a second dispense region is misaligned relative to the other of the first or the second dispense region. Fluid is dispensed from a first applicator while moving the first applicator using a primary positioner on the first electronic substrate to form a first fluid pattern. Fluid is simultaneously dispensed from a second applicator while moving the second applicator using the primary positioner and a secondary positioner. The apparatuses generate and deliver targeted, gentle, and highly controllable dispensation of continuous liquid spray. The ultrasound coating apparatuses and techniques provide an instant on-off coating process with no atmospheric therpeutic agent contamination, no “webbing,” no “stringing” or other surface coating anomalies. Furthermore, the technology reduces wastage of expensive pharmaceuticals or other expensive coating materials.

Ejecting and atomizing liquid in a pressure independent manner, the liquid atomization and/or separation system of the present invention enables the production and release of a consistent spray of liquid into an environment despite changes in pressure within the environment. Mixing liquids during injection and atomization, the system of the present invention also enables the production of hybrid liquid sprays. Atomizing liquids containing dissolved and/or suspended gasses liquids, solids, or any combination thereof, the present invention enables the separation of liquids from gasses, liquids, solids, or any combination thereof suspended and/or dissolved within said liquid.

Fully automated apparatus for coating graphite electrodes to be used in electric arc steel making processes, comprises a support device (1) having two sets of parallel guide surfaces along its length. On the first set of guide surfaces slides a plate (14, 7) carrying tools (8 to 13) for effecting the coating, and on the second set of guide surfaces slide two carriers (4) bearing contact clamps (6). An electrode support plate (20) is disposed between the carriers. The tool-carrying plate and the contact clamps are driven by an electric motor (26) to which they are connected by a reduction gear (3). An electrode to be coated (25) is deposited on the support plate (20) from a transporting arrangement (22) included in the apparatus, and is then taken up by the contact clamps (6). After being coated, the electrode (17) is returned to the transporting arrangement (22) and taken away. The electrode may be preheated by burners 23; it may rotate during coating, and tools 13 to 8 respectively are a roughener, a metal spray gun, an alloy applicator, a non-metal applicator, e.g. for graphite, an electric arc device, and a polisher. <IMAGE>

The invention is directed to a method of applying drug-release coatings whereby a polymer can be dissolved in a first solvent (solvent A) to form a polymer system and a drug can be dissolved or suspended in a second solvent (solvent B) to form a drug system. The coating or layer of coating so formed comprises a substantially uniform combination of the drug and polymer. Solvent B can be the same as or different than solvent A. The coating can be applied on a stent body by separately spraying or dipping the polymer system and the drug system onto the devices. The coating can be accomplished by either applying the polymer and drug systems sequentially or simultaneously. In certain embodiments, a drug can be suspended in solvent B. In some cases, three or more systems can be utilized. For instance, a third system containing pure solvent A or B can smooth the coating surface, if the solvent of the third spraying system is compatible with the polymer matrix.
