In the groove formation step, the workpiece is ground by performing grinding feed of a grinding unit while rotating a spindle without rotation of a chuck table, so that an arcuate groove is formed with a depth not reaching a finish thickness on a side of a back surface of the workpiece. In the groove removal step, rotation of the chuck table is started with the spindle kept rotating, so that the groove is ground at side walls thereof and is removed from the workpiece. In the full surface grinding step, grinding feed of the grinding unit is performed while the spindle and chuck table are rotated, so that the workpiece is ground in an entirety thereof on the side of the back surface until the workpiece has the finish thickness.

The present invention is a method for slicing a workpiece, including: forming a wire row by a wire spirally wound between a plurality of wire guides and traveling in an axial direction, and pressing a workpiece against the wire row while supplying a processing liquid containing abrasive grains to a contact portion between the workpiece and the wire, wherein a used portion of the abrasive grains are subjected to a treatment with a mixed liquid of sulfuric acid and hydrogen peroxide, and the abrasive grains subjected to the treatment are reused for the slicing of a workpiece. This makes it possible to slice a workpiece with suppressing contamination of a wafer with metal impurities when abrasive grains are reused in slicing a workpiece by use of a wire saw. 1. A method for slicing a workpiece , comprising:forming a wire row by a wire spirally wound between a plurality of wire guides and traveling in an axial direction, andpressing a workpiece against the wire row while supplying a processing liquid containing abrasive grains to a contact portion between the workpiece and the wire, whereina used portion of the abrasive grains are subjected to a treatment with a mixed liquid of sulfuric acid and hydrogen peroxide, andthe abrasive grains subjected to the treatment are reused for the slicing of a workpiece.2. The present invention provides a surface processing system for a work piece in the mechanical technical field. The system comprises at least one group of polishing units. A manipulator and several polishers with different polishing precisions are provided on the polishing units. The polishers are arranged around the manipulator in turn. The work piece could be moved by the manipulator between the processing center and the polishing units. The machined work piece is loaded by the manipulator for one time when the manipulator is located at the processing center. When the manipulator is located at the polishing units, the manipulator keeps holding the work piece and transfers the work piece in a preset sequence to each polisher corresponding to the polishing unit where the manipulator is located. The surface of work pieces having different wall thicknesses and complex surfaces could be processed in a large batch with a high efficiency.

Apparatus, systems, and/or methods for adjusting belt tension in a material removal machine are disclosed. In some examples, the material removal machine includes a material removal tool secured on a spindle. A spindle pulley may be secured to the spindle, such that rotation of the spindle pulley causes the material removal tool to be rotated via the spindle. The material removal machine may further include a movable hub that retains the spindle, such that movement of the hub translated into movement of the spindle. Because the spindle pulley is securely attached to the spindle, movement of the hub may translate into movement of the spindle pulley. This movement of the spindle pulley may change a distance between the spindle pulley and an actuator pulley, thereby changing the tension in a belt connecting the spindle pulley and the actuator pulley.
