A power wrench has a housing with a forwardly extending tubular neck portion, a rotation motor, an output shaft extending coaxially through the neck portion, and a torque reaction bar supported on the neck portion via a splines coupling. The reaction bar is axially locked to the housing by a nut assembly co-operating with a threaded section of the neck portion. The nut assembly includes a nut element, a maneuver ring supported on the nut element, and lock pins extend through axial bores in the nut element and are arranged to positively engage the keyways of the splines coupling in a lock position to rotationally lock the nut assembly relative to the housing. A dual positionable adaptor for a fastener driver assembly employs a tandem guide assembly mounted to a guide head which has an entry reference surface defining an opening for a fastener to provide a proper location and entry angle for the fastener. A pair of wings each defines a pair of reference engagement edges which engage either an upper horizontal member or a lower horizontal member. A socket wrench includes coaxial input, 4, and output 14 shafts, connected by a gear train which includes a pair of axially spaced gearwheels, 8, and that part of shaft 4 having teeth 15. The gear-wheels have planet gears 6 and 11; gears 6 are on pivots 22 which are welded at their ends to end plate 21 and ring 9 which is itself welded to gear 8; gears 11 are on pivots 10 which are welded via a ring 13 to output shaft 14. The planet gears are in mesh with teeth 20 on casing 1. Shaft 4 is axially movable so that extension 2 can engage a tubular member 3, this nullifies the action of the gear train and the whole wrench can then be rotated. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), only one set of planet gears (6) are used in a smaller casing (36) where extension (18) of gear (8) acts as an output shaft. If the outer casing is to be locked during use a support (28) is attached to a hexagonal shaped portion (25) and a lever (30) inserted through bore (29) to engage any adjacent projection, Fig. 6 (not shown).

THE TIGHTENING UNIT INCLUDES A PISTON 57 WHICH ACTS ON THE RATCHET. A KEY DRIVE ORGAN 26 IS COUPLED TO THE OUTER END OF THE RATCHET. THE TIGHTENING DEVICE TIGHTENS THE KEY ON THE EXTENDED ELEMENT AND THE DRIVE UNIT TURNS THE KEY.

A reaction arm (31) for a power-driven torque intensifier having a housing (1) with an axis, a torque intensifier unit and a switching device (19) for switching the torque intensifier unit between high speed/low torque and low speed/high torque, is configured for operating the switching device (19) so that when the reaction arm (31) is placed in a first position, the torque intensifier unit is switched to high speed/low torque and the reaction arm (31) is usable as a handle by an operator, and when the reaction arm (31) is placed in a second position the torque intensifier unit is switched to low speed/high torque and the reaction arm can abut against a stationary object since the high torque can not be absorbed by the operator.
