The support bar (4, Fig 4.3) is mounted through a tube (5, Fig 4.3) located at the upper end of a telescopic stand comprising a pair of wheels and a foldable support leg. The support bar (4, Fig 4.3) is rotatable within the tube (5, Fig 4.3) and its position can be fixed by the tightening of a pin (6, Fig 4.3) to engage the support bar through an aperture in the stand tube (Fig 4.3). The pin is made of material, such as brass, that will expand on heating to ensure that the locking mechanism remains tight. The support bar carries two support arms equipped with hooks to hold the workpiece in place. This hoist could also aid in lifting the engine or engine parts onto the engine stand or onto another conveyance (i.e. onto a truck).

An engine storage and transportation rack is provided for shipping and storage of internal combustion engines. The rack includes a frame upon which is transversely mounted a plurality of pairs of engine support pods. Each pair of pods is designed to accept one engine. The pods include downwardly angled guide surfaces to direct engines being loaded thereon into contact with horizontal support surfaces which accept discrete structure on the underside of the engine for support of the engine on the pod. The remaining portions of the engine are spaced slightly from the pods so as not to be in contact with the pods. However, the pods do restrain longitudinal and transverse movement of the engines.

A display device for an outboard motor includes a storage device storing unique information of the outboard motor. The display device for the outboard motor has a gauge mode and a service tool mode as display modes. The support is composed of a hydraulic cylinder, and is provided with a hydraulic pressure by a manual hydraulic unit installed in the base frame or an automatic hydraulic unit which electrically operates. In addition, a shock absorber is installed between the base frame and the bearing housing on the top of the support such that the horizontal state of the worktable can be maintained when operating the hydraulic cylinder forming the support.

This invention pertains to a multi-function tool that when assembled in different configurations would meet many needs of the home or commercial mechanic. One configuration is height adjustable allowing users to work safely in an elevated position over the engine compartment of a light truck (i.e. half-ton to one-ton vehicle) even if that vehicle is lifted or taller than factory normal. Another configuration is an engine stand to hold a small engine block so the mechanic may repair it. Yet another configuration is a crane or hoist to assist in lifting engines or parts of engines (e.g. heads) out of the engine compartment to prevent injury to the mechanic. This hoist could also aid in lifting the engine or engine parts onto the engine stand or onto another conveyance (i.e. onto a truck).

[Class 61 (ii)] A stand for facilitating operations on the airscrews of aircraft comprises a base mounted on wheels, a central pillar on which is hinged a supporting plate provided with a mandrel for receiving the airscrew and means for varying the angular position of the plate and maintaining it rigid ; an adjustable table can be attached to the plate. The base 1, H-section in plan, is mounted on castors 4 and carries the central pillar 5, stays 6 being provided. The plate 13, carrying the mandrel 14, is fitted with depending lugs pivoted to a solid extension 9 of the pillar and is adjusted angularly by links 16 connected to a hand-actuated screw and nut mechanism 18. The plate is provided with a pivoted L-shaped member 24 engaged by a spring-retaining spring for holding the airscrew against rotation, and a table 33, supported by struts 37, is connected to the plate by ball and socket joints 36. The plate may be provided with a bow-shaped clamping member, pivoted thereto, for holding the airscrew blade.

ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An engine storage and transportation rack is provided for shipping and storage of internal combustion engines. The rack includes a frame upon which is transversely mounted a plurality of pairs of engine support pods. Each pair of pods is designed to accept one engine. The pods include downwardly angled guide surfaces to direct engines being loaded thereon into contact with horizontal support surfaces which accept discrete structure on the underside of the engine for support of the engine on the pod. The remaining portions of the engine are spaced slightly from the pods so as not to be in contact with the pods. However, the pods do restrain longitudinal and transverse movement of the engines.

Apparatus for use in repairing turbine rotors comprises a stand which supports a turbine rotor (10) at positions spaced along its axis, the stand further comprising work stations (31, 32) adapted to provide a work surface (47) extending alongside a blade (73) positioned in an array of blades (12, 13) on the rotor and stop means (90) prevents movement of the rotor relative to the work station so that work operations can be carried out on a blade. The rotor may then be rotated about its axis (15) until an adjacent blade is brought into proximity with the work station whereafter that blade may too be repaired and so on until all blades have had necessary repairs carried out thereto. The work surfaces may be adapted to receive machine tools (50) and other apparatus for the repair of the blades. A plurality of work stations may be provided enabling the simultaneous repair of a plurality of blades on the rotor thereby considerably decreasing the time necessary to carry out full repair to the rotor.
