The latter allow the mould to slide along the rails 10 when the tension applied to the wires 21 by rams (28, Fig. 3) during moulding is released. The mould 32 may be inverted by a slewing crane (16, Fig. 5) via a cable 56 attached to apertured lugs 55 on the mould 32. During inversion the sleepers 58 are retained within the mould 32 by pins passing through apertures in the inserts 41. The removal of the sleepers 58 may be facilitated by spraying the moulds with oil prior to casting and by shaking and heating the mould 32 after iversion. The sleepers may be collected by a fork-lift truck (60, Fig. 5).

The travelling clamping beam (3) is for use on a long prestressed concrete casting bed (1) to position the moulds (2). The beam aligns transversely over and travels along the bed and has two sliding combs (5, 6). The combs are disposed about a fixed centering unit (7) are power-driven and connected by racks (8, 9) so as to maintain a symmetrical mobile relationship. The beam may be suspended (11) by the sliding combs and from a travelling elevator-gantry-crane (10-16). The comb drive may comprise beam-mounted hydraulic jacks (7) and the teeth (17) of the combs may be 'L' shaped. The clamping plates may be mounted on lateral teeth and have large extension relative to those of the arms of the primary teeth. Wedges or jacks may be used to chock the moulds after clamping.

Arrangement for ensuring in connection with the production of concrete screed beams for concrete floors or similar devices good linerarity of the product when casting in accordance with the so-called battery method. On a bed of beams (1) pipes (2) with a certain degree of levelling (3) are placed. In the mould the beams (1) become the underside whereas two nearby pipes (2) become the side walls. The arrangement consists in a plate (5) between two beams (1). The plate is located and shaped in such a way that the T-shaped rail (4) at the bottom of the pipe fits into a recess (6) in the plate. In this way the pipes are aligned, which is the necessary condition for ensuring good linearity of the product.

Throttle 13 may be a calibrated hole, a nozzle or a labyrinth. In another embodiment, Fig. 4, a container 101 formed with holes 102 has a flexible casing 103 defining a chamber 104 connected through a porous ceramic member 121 to a non-deformable chamber 110 containing a Bourdon tube.

The present specification discloses an apparatus and method for producing concrete beams for use in the construction industry. Concrete beams are conventionally made in suitable moulds in a factory, the beams being removed from the mould and transferred to the construction site. However, removal from the mould and transit can cause the beams to be damaged, besides adding to the production cost. The present invention provides an apparatus which is manhandlable without the need for lifting gear, and which can be used on site, thereby reducing production cost and the possibility of damage. The apparatus comprises a number of vertical supports (5) between which horizontal support members (7) extend. Elongate mould members (17) rest generally horizontally on the support members (7), abutting one another so as to define a number of adjacent, parallel, generally U-shaped channels (19). In use, concrete is poured into the channels (19) and after hardening the mould members (17) are separated, it being a relatively easy operation to release the L-shaped mould members (17) from the beams with little, if any, damage.

The present specification discloses an apparatus and method for producing concrete beams for use in the construction industry. Concrete beams are conventionally made in suitable moulds in a factory, the beams being removed from the mould and transferred to the construction site. However, removal from the mould and transit can cause the beams to be damaged, besides adding to the production cost. The present invention provides an apparatus which is manhandlable without the need for lifting gear, and which can be used on site, thereby reducing production cost and the possibility of damage. The apparatus comprises a number of vertical supports (5) between which horizontal support members (7) extend. Elongate mould members (17) rest generally horizontally on the support members (7), abutting one another so as to define a number of adjacent, parallel, generally U-shaped channels (19). In use, concrete is poured into the channels (19) and after hardening the mould members (17) are separated, it being a relatively easy operation to release the L-shaped mould members (17) from the beams with little, if any, damage.
