A method of sewing a decorative seam of an automotive trim component includes folding a first portion of material 18 onto a second portion to form a bend 26 and sewing a first stitch 34 to join the first and second portions. First stitch 34 is substantially parallel to and spaced from bend 26. The material is then unfolded and second and third stitches 48,50 (preferably visible in use) sewn into the material 18 such that they are substantially parallel to, on opposite sides of and preferably equally spaced from the seam 36. Preferably the bend is held against and slides along a guide 32 as stitch 34 is sewn on a single needle machine. The material preferably comprises a foam layer between surface and backing layers, and the surface layer is interior of the backing when the first stitch is sewn. The second and third stitches are preferably sewn simultaneously on a double needle sewing machine with a trough (40, figure 5A) to accommodate the bend. The seamed material may be attached to a substrate using adhesive 56, and the substrate may have a depression 54 to accommodate the bend. Alternatively a substrate may be insert-moulded to the seamed material providing mechanical or chemically bonding.

Эластизированный одноразовый предмет одежды, как, например, одноразовые тренировочные трусы, обладающие высокой степенью растяжения в поперечном направлении машины и удовлетворяющие широкому диапазону размеров пользователей. Единый одноразовый предмет одежды изготавливается из основы и имеет отверстие для талии, отверстия для ног и два боковых шва, соединяющих переднюю и заднюю части основы. The process according to the invention is used to produce a renewal tube, the inner felt layer 8 of which is laminated by an outer plastic layer. The weld 10 produced by the corresponding process is a butt weld, in which the cut surfaces of the felt layer and of the plastic layer butt against one another and are welded over the full surface area. A solid and reliable weld is obtained, without steps due to overlaps or the like. Either the plastic layer is welded simultaneously with the felt layer or, if this is not possible owing to properties of the materials, a narrow strip is left unlaminated on both sides of the weld 10 to be produced. During coextrusion, a first polymer conjoins with a second polymer while a temperature differential is maintained between the first and second polymers. The chassis from which the unitary disposable garment is manufactured, has four elasticized ear flaps; each ear flap is elasticized by securing an elastomeric element thereto and mechanically stretching the ear flap and the elastomeric element such that the ear flap is elastically extensible in the direction of initial stretching. The present invention is a method for manufacturing inflatable articles, or bladders for inflatable articles, that is time-efficient, simple, inexpensive and permits the uninterrupted manufacture of numerous and even customized article or bladder configurations and sizes, without expensive configuration-specific, metal tooling. The method includes the steps of applying a barrier material to a side of a first film, providing a second film with the first film so that the barrier material is disposed between the first and second films, adhering the first film to the second film so that the films are sealed together in areas except where the barrier material has been applied to form at least one inflatable compartment and sealed peripheral edge, and cutting along the sealed peripheral edge to form an inflatable article or bladder for use in an article of manufacture. The barrier material may be a paint, ink, paper or surface treatment that effectively prevents the first film from adhering to the second. The inflatable article or bladder of the present invention may be used as or in athletic equipment, for example, including footwear.

The method includes providing at least one web of reinforcing material, applying one or more layers of flexible polymeric material to the web, folding the web to form an elongated tubular hose member with a longitudinal overlapped joint, moving the tubular member into a curing chamber of an elongated hollow curing apparatus, confining the tubular member exteriorly of the curing chamber prior to curing to prevent opening of the periphery of the member under conditions of inflation, inflating the tubular member prior to curing at least a length of the tubular member, cooling the cured length of the tubular member, deflating the cured length of the tubular member, advancing the cured length of the tubular member out of the curing apparatus, and repeating the above steps until the entire hose is cured. The apparatus includes an elongated hollow tubular curing apparatus including a curing chamber therein, means for carrying and supporting the hose components, means for moving the tubular member into the curing apparatus, means for confining an uncured length of the tubular member exteriorly of the curing chamber prior to curing, and means for inflating, cooling and deflating the tubular member and means for advancing the cured tubular member out of the curing apparatus. The method and apparatus of this invention are particularly useful for making long length water discharge hose.

Pieces of material having a layer of foam adhered to one surface, for example, a foam-backed carpet, are joined by compressing permanently a narrow strip adjacent an edge of each piece of the material to be joined, butt-contacting those edges, joining together the two abutting edges to form a recessed portion and concurrently or subsequently inserting into the recessed portion and adhering thereto a strip of resilient foam having about the same thickness as the recessed portion so that the overall thickness of the foam where the pieces are joined is substantially the same as of other portions of the foam.

The inflatable article or bladder of the present invention may be used as or in athletic equipment, for example, including footwear.
