A placement solution is then generated by placing the potential blocks in the target shape using a recursive process that avoids redundant placement solutions until all of the potential blocks are placed or no other potential blocks are able to be placed. The placement solution can then be utilized, for example, to control a printer to print multiple images on a substrate and/or to control an automated cutting device to cut the substrate into multiple partitions according to the placement solution.

An image forming apparatus which forms an image on a recording medium comprising:a head unit which includes an ejecting unit which ejects photo-curable color ink which is cured by being irradiated with light, an ejecting unit which ejects photo-curable transparent ink which is cured by being irradiated with light, and a light irradiation unit which radiates the light;a moving unit which moves the recording medium and the head unit relatively in reciprocating movements; anda controller which causes the transparent ink to be ejected toward the recording medium while causing the head unit to move in one direction in the reciprocating movements, and causes the transparent ink which is applied in the one direction to be irradiated with the light while causing the head unit to be moved in the other direction in the reciprocating movements.2. According to the present invention, a printing system adapted to print on a print side of a print media is disclosed. The printing system comprises one or more vacuum assemblies. Each vacuum assembly has a vacuum manifold disposed opposite a non-print side of the print media. Each vacuum manifold has an opening proximate to the non-print side of the print media and produces a vacuum that pulls the print media towards the vacuum manifold as the print media is moved through the printing system. The vacuum manifold further includes a plurality of edge seals. A transportation device includes a transportation unit that transports a transportation target material, a supporting surface that supports the transportation target material which is transported by the transportation unit, a first suction hole that opens in the supporting surface in order to suck the transportation target material which is supported by the supporting surface, a light transmission portion that is exposed in the supporting surface and through which light is permitted to pass, a detector that has a light irradiator capable of irradiating the transportation target material which is supported by the supporting surface with light through the light transmission portion and detects a transportation amount of the transportation target material based on reflected light of the light with which the light irradiator has irradiated the transportation target material, and a second suction hole that opens in the supporting surface at at least one of positions adjacent to the light transmission portion. 1. A transportation device comprising:a transportation unit that transports a transportation target material;a supporting surface that supports the transportation target material which is transported by the transportation unit;a first suction hole that opens in the supporting surface in order to suck the transportation target material which is supported by the supporting surface;a light transmission portion that is exposed in the supporting surface and through which light is permitted to pass;a detector that has a light irradiator capable of irradiating the transportation target material which is supported by the supporting surface with light through the light transmission portion and detects a transportation amount of the transportation target material based on reflected light of the light with which the light irradiator has irradiated the transportation target material; anda second suction hole that opens in the supporting surface at at least one of positions ...

A liquid ejecting apparatus includes a liquid ejecting unit that ejects a liquid onto a medium which is transported in a transport direction; a suction mechanism for sucking the medium; and a medium supporting portion that supports the medium. A liquid ejecting apparatus , comprising:a liquid ejecting unit that ejects a liquid onto a medium which is transported in a transport direction;a suction mechanism for sucking the medium; anda medium supporting portion that supports the medium,wherein the medium supporting portion includes a first suction pore, a second suction pore and a third suction pore for actuating a suction force of the suction mechanism,the first suction pore, the second suction pore and the third suction pore are disposed in order along the transport direction of the medium from an upstream side to a downstream side,the first suction pore is disposed at a position which opposes the liquid ejecting unit, andthe first suction pore has a larger hole diameter than that of the second suction pore.2.
