A printer includes a modular vacuum belt assembly for moving print media in a media feed direction along a media path. The modular vacuum belt assembly includes a plurality of moving belt modules interconnected along a width of the media path. Neighboring moving belt modules are interconnected via a connecting fixed vacuum plenum. 1. A printer comprising a modular vacuum belt assembly for moving print media in a media feed direction along a media path , the modular vacuum belt assembly comprising a plurality of moving belt modules interconnected along a width of the media path , wherein neighboring moving belt modules are interconnected via a connecting fixed vacuum plenum.2. The printer of claim 1 , wherein each moving belt module comprises at least one apertured belt.3. The printer of claim 2 , wherein the apertured belts of neighboring moving belt modules are spaced apart by a width of the connecting fixed vacuum plenum.4. The printer of claim 1 , wherein a common vacuum plenum chamber provides a vacuum for at least one moving belt module and an associated fixed vacuum plenum.5. The printer of claim 1 , wherein a number of the moving belt modules corresponds to a width of the media path.6. The printer of claim 1 , wherein the media path is more than 17 inches wide.
