The support structure having ink conduits (182) for supplying the array of nozzles. A plurality of cavities (200), each cavity having an opening that establishes fluid communication with the ink conduits, the openings being configured such that the cavities do not prime with ink when the ink conduits are primed from the ink supply. By leaving unprimed cavities throughout the support structure, any pressure pulses in the ink are damped by compression of the trapped gas pockets. Distributing the cavities rather than using one relatively large cavity, means that the pressure pulse is being damped along the length of the printhead IC, instead of allowing the pulse to travel the length of the ink conduit until it reaches the single damper and compresses the gas.

The present invention provides a non-lead piezoelectric film having high crystalline orientation, the low dielectric loss, the high polarization-disappear temperature, the high piezoelectric constant, and the high linearity between an applied electric field and an amount of displacement. The present invention is a piezoelectric film comprising: a Na x La 1-x+y Ni 1-y O 3-x layer having only an (001) orientation and a (1-α) (Bi, Na, Ba) TiO 3 -αBiQO 3 layer having only an (001) orientation. Impulse ink jet compositions comprising antioxidant are also provided which are suitable for printing clear, well-defined alphanumeric text or low spread, narrow bar width bar codes on porous substrates such as Kraft paper or corrugated cardboard. The ink compositions preferably comprise from about 20 to 50 percent by weight of a carbon black dispersion, from about 10 to 20 percent by weight of a dispersion medium, from about 40 to 60 percent by weight of a plasticizer and less than 2% of an antioxidant additive. The antioxidant additive lowers the dissolve oxygen level in the ink, thereby enhancing the jetting perfomance of the printhead.

According to such a configuration, the back flow of ink through the restrictor is suppressed in the ink ejecting process, and a sufficient amount of ink can be quickly refilled through the restrictor in the ink refilling process.
