Method and device for changing the condition of a web of foil

Номер: US20120152444A1
Автор: Alexander Weber
Принадлежит: HEIDELBERGER DRUCKMASCHINEN AG

A device and a method for coating a printing material include a foil engaged with a printing material on an impression cylinder using guide rollers. The foil and the printing material are guided together in an engagement area and a functional layer, such as glue or varnish, is dried, i.e. activated or polymerized, through the foil in the engagement area using a drier. The guide rollers are disengaged from the impression cylinder to avoid contact between the foil and grippers of the impression cylinder. To improve a detachment behavior of the foil from the functional layer, an angle of detachment between the foil and the sheet is varied by pivoting the guide rollers about an external geometrical pivot axis or an internal geometrical pivot axis, or at least assisting the disengagement of the foil from the impression cylinder by a change of a pneumatic condition of a foil-guiding element.

A method of operating a sheet-fed printing press includes storing various print jobs and/or associated setting values and process steps in a memory device to set up the printing press upon a job change. A computer implements or suggests settings or process steps of the printing press for a print job based on the job data of a print job and/or as a result of inputs by the operator. Before or immediately after a print job is completed, the computer generates a query requesting inputs that determine if the same print job requires further passes and if so, which passes are required and, based on the information input therein, implements only those settings on the printing press and/or initiates or suggests only those process steps that are necessary for the subsequent pass of the sheets that have already been printed.

Variable Data Lithography System for Applying Multi-Component Images and Systems Therefor

Номер: US20120274914A1
Принадлежит: Palo Alto Research Center Inc

A reimageable layer of an imaging member is provided with a dampening fluid layer. The reimageable layer has specific properties such as composition, surface profile, and so on so as to be well suited for receipt and carrying the dampening fluid layer. An optical patterning subsystem such as a scanned modulated laser patterns the dampening fluid layer. Ink having a first set of properties such as color, composition, etc., is applied at an inking subsystem such that it selectively resides in voids formed by the patterning subsystem in the dampening fluid layer to thereby form an inked latent image. The inked latent image is then transferred to a substrate, and the reimageable surface cleaned. The process is repeated for a second ink having properties different than the first. Each ink image may successively be applied to the substrate, or a composite image may be formed then applied to the substrate.

Screen printing apparatus and method

Номер: US20180015714A1
Автор: Tom Falcon
Принадлежит: ASM Assembly Systems Singapore Pte Ltd

A screen printing apparatus for screen printing onto a substrate comprises: a printing screen unit, with a printing screen and a frame for holding the printing screen in a substantially planar primary configuration; a support for the substrate; and a moveable print head for contacting and sweeping across a printing region of a first surface of the printing screen; an engagement structure mounted to contact a region of a surface of the printing screen which lies outside any part of the printing region which is drivable to move a portion of the printing screen in a direction orthogonal to the screen. Moving the screen away from the substrate improves separation between the printing screen and substrate. Moving the screen towards the substrate before printing can pre-tension the screen to reduce the tension which the print head has to overcome. Controlled movement of the screen towards and away from the substrate can reduce tension applied to the screen, and thus improve its working life.

Method to damp an oscillation of a driven roller in a printing system

Номер: US20160082717A1
Принадлежит: Oce Printing Systems GmbH and Co KG

In a method to damp an oscillation of a roller driven via a drive in a printing system, a printing substrate web is directed across the roller, the roller and the printing substrate web forming a system capable of vibrating. With the drive the roller is driven with a predetermined nominal moment. With a sensor, a real value is determined of a variable representative of a velocity with which the printing substrate web is transported by the roller. In aid of a predetermined calculation rule, a correction moment is calculated from the determined real value such that a damping of the vibration-capable system results like a mechanical viscous damper. The correction moment is added to the predetermined nominal moment upon activation of the drive.

Processes For Forming Waveguides Using LTCC Substrates

Номер: US20160087325A1
Принадлежит: Telekom Malaysia Berhad

The present invention describes processes for forming waveguides ( 200 ) using multiple co-planar layers of LTCC substrates ( 212, 212 a, 212 b ). Registration holes ( 222 ) on the substrates help align layering of the substrates. An array of circuit patterns are printed on each substrate, with each circuit being made up of conductor pattern ( 213 ) and/or via holes ( 224 ). Cavity alignment holes ( 226 ) formed around a periphery of each circuit allow alignment marks to be printed on the substrates for vision inspection. Similarly, circuit orientation holes ( 227 ) associated with each circuit allow orientation marks to be printed on the substrates to identify orientation of circuits in each finally formed waveguide. Substrate orientation holes ( 225 ) allow marks to be printed on one side of each substrate for alignment during screen printing. These in-process vision inspections and quality assurance tests allow product quality and process yields to improve.
