The intake has a first inlet in the bonnet in front of the windscreen-washer nozzles and followed by an active-carbon filter cut in and out of use by an air shutter. A second inlet (14) is formed by the gap (13) between the windscreen (12) and bonnet (4), while there is a shutter (17) in the inlet passage (15) following it. This is opened when the rate of air flow through the first inlet (10) falls below a predetermined minimum value. It can be opened by a signal from a flow-monitoring device (18). There can be a shutter (6) before the filter (9) in the first inlet passage, opened either alone or together with that in the second when the demand for air is high. ADVANTAGE - Provides sufficient air even if main inlet is completely blocked by snow etc.

Zum Steuern der Bewegungen der Klappe (9) ist ein Regensensor (11) vorgesehen. Im Gehäuse (1) ist wenigstens ein Feinfilter (8) vorgesehen, wobei zwischen der Austrittsöffnung (5), die durch ein Gitter (6) verschlossen ist, und dem Feinfilter (8) Ventilatoren (13) zum Erzeugen einer Luftströmung vorgesehen sind.

The system includes an air circulation unit comprising an air flow passageway extending from a return air intake in communication with the cabin interior to one or more conduits in communication with the cabin interior and a circulation fan in communication with the air flow passageway, wherein the circulation fan can cause air from the cabin interior to pass through a filter and to be redelivered to the cabin interior. A control system is in communication with the air circulation unit. The control system includes a controller and a detector, wherein the controller receives a input signal from the detector related to a condition in the cabin and wherein the controller generates an output signal in response to the input signal, the output signal being delivered to the air circulation unit to control the operation thereof.
