Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Ermitteln eines den Frei- oder Besetztzustand eines Streckenabschnittes repräsen- tierenden Signalbegriffes für ein Schienenfahrzeug, insbeson- dere ein Wartungs- oder Baufahrzeug, auf einer CBTC – Commu- nication Based Train Control – Strecke, wobei das Schienen- fahrzeug nicht über ein CBTC-Bordgerät verfügt, sowie eine entsprechende Vorrichtung. Um auf spezielle Hardware verzich- ten zu können, ist verfahrensgemäß vorgesehen, dass eine App auf einem Smartphone folgende Schritte initiiert: A) Fotografieren einer in Fahrtrichtung befindlichen Stre- ckenbake, B) Feststellen der ID – Identifikationssignatur – der Stre- ckenbake, C) Senden der Streckenbaken-ID an eine CBTC-Streckenzentrale und D) Empfangen des durch die CBTC-Streckenzentrale ermittelten Signalbegriffes für den mit der Streckenbake beginnenden Streckenabschnitt.
