The cover 51 can be raised, this operation lowering by means of the screw 55 an inner disk 58 so as to cover the top of the heater 1, and at the same time, by means of links 63, 65, 66, operating a curved damper within the main air casing 12 to allow the eye of the fan to be in communication with the trunk 16. The apparatus then operates to exhaust the vitiated air from the building &c. ventilated.

A system for modifying ice adhesion strength of ice adhered to an object comprises a composite coating containing wire electrodes covering the surface to be protected. In one embodiment, a composite coating contains electrode wires and insulator fibers. The composite coating is applied to the surface of an object on which the ice adhesion strength is to be modified. The electrode wires are connected to a dc bias source, and they function as cathodes and anodes alternately. The source generates a DC bias to an interface between the ice and the surface when the ice completes the circuit between anode and cathode wires. In another embodiment, a wire mesh is disposed on an electrically conductive surface of the object an opposing DC biases are applied to the mesh and the surface. In another embodiment, the coating has anode and cathode wires woven by insulator fibers as a composite cloth applied to the surface to protect the surface from ice.

The invention is a fisherman refrigerating device using engine exhaust, which comprises a refrigerating tub, a storage bottle of the coolant liquid ammonia, a condenser and two generators whose guiding pipe is connected to the inlet of the condenser via a valve. The outlet connects to the coolant inlet of the storage bottle, the coolant outlet of the storage bottle then connects to the inlet of the vaporizer through a flux control valve. The vaporizer outlet connects to the guiding pipe of the generators by a valve, the outer case of the generator has an engine exhaust pipe and an inner pipe on it. An inner tube with apertures and calcium chloride are between those pipes, and the inner tube connects to the guiding pipe. A sprinkling tube sits above the inner pipe and the outer case has a water pipe connector.

Coaxial with the outer wall of the vessel is an inner refractory wall of lesser diameter, which houses a combustion zone. Liquid fuel is supplied under pressure axially at the top of the combustion zone and, with atomizer means, a spray of liquid fuel droplets is projected downwardly in the combustion zone. Flue gases from a boiler or similar source is supplied, along with combustion air from a blower, to a plenum upstream of the fuel spray. A method for cooling chilled containers, with integral chilling units, stacked into a ship's hold has vertical ducts to provide a fresh air circulation. Each vertical duct serves two rows of containers. Two versions of cooling are described; a first version has fresh air blown down into the hold with the hot air displaced and expelled via vents under the hatch covers, and a second version in which the vertical ducts extract warm air, while fresh air enters via vents under the hatch covers. In both versions the vertical are fitted with blowers/extractors, and the bottom ends of the ducts terminate a distance above the floor of the hold, e.g. 6 to 20 metres, depending on the power of the fans and the layout of the containers.

The system for modifying the ice adhesion of ice attached to an object according to the invention comprises a synthetic coating comprising a wire electrode covering the surface to be protected. In one embodiment, the synthetic coating includes electrode wires and insulating fibers. The synthetic coating is applied to the surface of the object where the ice adhesion is to be corrected. The electrode wires are connected to a direct current bias power source, which in turn functions as a cathode and an anode. When the ice completes the circuit between the anode and the cathode wires, the power source generates a direct current bias at the interface between the ice and the surface. In another embodiment, a wire mesh is disposed on the electrically conductive surface of the object, and opposite direct current biases are applied to the mesh and the surface. In another embodiment, a synthetic fabric applied to a surface for viewing the surface from ice, the coating having an anode wire and a cathode wire woven by insulating fibers.

The propulsion plant can provide either a direct mechanical drive of the propeller shaft and propeller, or can be fitted with an integrated electric power plant using an electric motor or motors to drive the propeller shaft and propeller. The regasification system includes a heat input source of exhaust gas heat exchangers, electric water heaters and supplemental heaters to provide an additional heat source to a hot water circulating loop. The liquefied natural gas contacts the hot water or heating medium circulating loop and is regasified. An undersea conduit from the ship transmits the regasified natural gas to an on shore plant.
