This invention provides a system and method for aligning, feeding, trimming, slitting, rotating, cross-slitting and stacking sheets, each containing one or more discrete page images thereon that allows for greater automation of the overall process so that reduced or no manual intervention is required to generate completed book stacks or “blocks” from a stream or stack of printed sheets. Sheets are fed to a first, upstream trimming station to remove margin edges and optionally separate the sheets relative to the discrete page images. The sheets are then rotated 90 degrees and fed to a second, downstream trimming station that trims the right-angle edges and optionally separates the sheets into a final group of full-bleed pages, removing margins and gutter strips. The sheets are fed to a stacking assembly to be tacked in page order and any rejected, defective sheets or stacks are removed from the order.

A sheet conveying roller comprising a tubular roller body , wherein said tubular roller body comprises:a tubular outer layer defining an outer peripheral surface of the roller body; anda tubular inner layer inserted directly in the tubular outer layer and unified with the outer layer;wherein the outer layer is a nonporous tubular layer made of a composition comprising a urethane thermoplastic elastomer as a base polymer, and has a Type-A Durometer hardness of not less than 40 and not greater than 65;wherein the inner layer is a nonporous tubular layer made of a crosslinking product of a composition comprising a butyl rubber or an ethylene propylene rubber as a base polymer, and has a Type-A Durometer hardness of greater than 10 and not greater than 25.2. The invention concerns a device for a roller body of a rotation roller with an outer hollow body that has a cylindrical shape and is built with an internal cavity, an inner body that has a cylindrical shape and is arranged in an assembly with the outer hollow body in the internal cavity of the outer hollow body, and a centring device that is used during installation of the assembly to centrally position the inner body in the internal cavity; a relevant material bridge in the opposing end sections of the assembly, whereby the relevant material bridge is formed by a filler, which is applied and cured in a space at the end section of the assembly between an inner surface of the outer hollow body and an outer surface of the inner body, which is in contact with the inner surface of the outer hollow body and the outer surface of the inner body and is fully formed between this area and forms a dimensionally stable connection between the outer hollow body and the inner body in the assembly.
