By providing the first and second housings pivotable independently of each other and an intermediate axle, the feeding roll adapts to a non-uniform stack of papers, improving the reliability of the feeding. 2. The paper feeding device according to claim 1 , comprising a first spring extending between the first housing and a first fixed fastening point below the first housing and a second spring extending between the second housing and a second fixed fastening point below the second housing claim 1 , wherein the first spring and the second spring are adapted to exert a force downward on the feeding roll.3. Shelves provide for better engagement of sheets displacing in transporting means to allow more reliable transfer of sheets. An automated banking machine ( 10 ) includes sheet dispensing mechanisms ( 34, 36, 38, 40 ). Each sheet dispensing mechanism includes a picking member ( 72 ). The picking member rotates, with each rotation generally causing one sheet to be picked from a stack ( 42 ) of sheets. The picking member includes movable engaging portions supported on arcuate segments ( 128, 144 ). The engaging portions move radially outward to apply additional moving force to an end note bound in the stack responsive to movement of the picking member exceeding the movement of the end note. Sheets are carried in the machine by a transport ( 54 ) including a plurality of belt flights ( 174, 176, 178 ). Sheets are carried between the belt flights and projecting member portions ( 180, 182 ). At least one of the belt flights includes a plurality of longitudinally spaced projections ( 194, 200, 204, 207 ) on a sheet engaging surface thereof. The projections provide improved engagement with sheets moving in the transport enabling more reliable movement of sheets.

A dispenser for dispensing sheet product is provided. The dispenser includes a housing with an outlet through which sheet product is dispensed. A knife drum is rotatable with respect to the housing. A knife is movable between a retracted position within the knife drum and an extended position where the knife protrudes outside of the knife drum to cut the sheet product. A cam follower surface is fixed with respect to the housing. A cam follower is attached to the knife and operable to engage the cam follower surface and travel therealong to transition the knife between the retracted position and the extended position. A spring assembly biases the knife drum during rotation toward a predetermined position. The spring assembly comprises a first spring and a second spring. The spring assembly is attached at a single mount position that is fixed with respect to the housing.

The apparatus also includes at least one initial transport wheel (120, 130) positioned in the banknote path and nearer to the opening than the plurality of inboard transport wheels, the at least one initial transport wheel configured to transport the banknote from the opening to a first of the plurality of inboard transport wheels. The at least one initial transport wheel causes the banknote to pivot around the first inboard transport wheel when a leading edge (201) of the banknote contacts the first inboard transport wheel. Pivoting causes banknote to contact a second of the plurality of inboard transport wheels.
