Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft eine Vorrichtung und ein Verfahren zur Handhabung von Druckplatten (100, 200), welche in Form von Druckplattenstapel (10) auf wenigstens einer Vorratsebene (8) bereitgestellt werden. Werden besonders großformatige Druckplatten (200) benötigt um sie in einem Belichter zu bebildern, so ist eine Beladung von Kassetten für ein Magazin von Kassetten zumindest problematisch. Erfindungsgemäß wird daher ein Tablett (8) aus einer Lagereinrichtung (2) über eine angrenzende Hubeinrichtung (3) in den unteren Bereich der Lagereinrichtung (2) gebracht und dort einer aus der Lagereinrichtung (2) herausbewegbaren Schublade (6) zugeführt. Befindet sich das Tablett (8) auf der Schublade (6), so kann diese durch einen Bediener (101, 201) in einer zweiten horizontalen Richtung (15) aus der Handhabungsvorrichtung (1), insbesondere aus der Lagereinrichtung (2) heraus bewegt werden. In dieser Position kann dann das Tablett (8) ergonomisch günstig beladen werden.

An image recording apparatus including a first tray having a first holding portion for holding sheets, a second tray disposed above the first tray and including a second holding portion for holding sheets, a sheet feeder that selectively feeds a sheet from one of the first tray and the second tray in a sheet feed direction, a recording unit that records an image on the sheet fed by the sheet feeder, and a discharge roller that discharges the sheet on which the image is recorded by the recording unit. The second holding portion of the second tray moves above the first holding portion of the first tray. The second tray further includes a discharged sheet receiving portion for receiving the sheet discharged by the discharge roller. The second tray including the discharged sheet receiving portion pivots relative to the first tray.

Therefore during the image forming operation, the leakage of noise made in the apparatus is prevented or reduced. Furthermore, since paper is discharged toward the front of the image forming apparatus, the width of the apparatus is minimized.

The guide portion includes a pair of rails inclined upward and having a predetermined width. The engaging portion includes two protrusions provided so as to slide between the pair of rails and located apart from each other by a predetermined distance. By locating the two protrusions between the pair of rails, the tray is positioned at a predetermined position with respect to the housing with a front end portion of a downstream side in the medium ejecting direction located upward.
