A control box is mounted to each elevator that includes one or more sensors that can detect movement of the elevator, a processor that can process data received from the sensors and a communications device that can transmit the processed data. The method includes determining a usage rate of movement of each of the elevators in the processor using the data, transmitting the usage rate from each of the communications devices to a remote server, and comparing the usage rate of each of the elevators to the usage rate of the other elevators in the server. The present invention discloses a method and an elevator system for serving passenger-specific destination calls. The elevator system comprises at least one elevator and also means for determining the acceleration data of an elevator car of the aforementioned elevator. A method for elevator call allocations in an elevator group of an elevator system includes applying statistical traffic forecasts modelling future passenger arrivals in the elevator system; receiving an indication of at least one elevator call; generating, for a fixed parameter, a set of scenarios based on the statistical traffic forecasts; determining a quality attribute for each candidate allocation policy of a set of candidate allocation policies by simulating, for each candidate allocation policy, the set of scenarios according to the candidate allocation policy in a current elevator call allocation situation in the elevator system; selecting a candidate allocation policy based on the quality attributes associated with the candidate allocation policies; and allocating the at least one elevator call to at least one elevator in the elevator group according to the selected candidate allocation policy. 1. A method for elevator call allocations in an elevator group of an elevator system , the method comprising:applying statistical traffic forecasts modelling future passenger arrivals in the elevator system;receiving an indication of at least one elevator call;generating, for a fixed parameter, a set of scenarios based on the statistical traffic forecasts;determining a quality attribute for each candidate allocation policy of a set of candidate allocation policies by simulating, for each candidate allocation policy, the set of scenarios according to the candidate allocation policy in a current elevator call allocation situation in the elevator system;selecting a candidate allocation policy based on the quality attributes associated with the candidate allocation policies; andallocating the at least one elevator call to at least one elevator in the elevator group according to the selected candidate allocation policy.2. An exemplary elevator destination entry system includes a passenger interface device that presents a visual representation of at least one item that will accompany a passenger on an elevator car. The passenger interface allows the passenger to select the visual representation. A controller is configured to receive indications of passenger requests for elevator service and an indication from the passenger interface device regarding a selected visual representation. The controller determines an amount of space within an elevator car required to accommodate the item based on predetermined space information corresponding to the selected visual representation. The controller assigns a car to a passenger request based on a determination that the assigned car will have adequate space to accommodate the passenger and the item.

Disclosed is a retrofit voice actuated system configured to be coupled to an existing system for controlling the movement of an elevator car between floors of a multi-floor structure. The existing system includes at least one hall push button on each floor accessible to the elevator car, a car operating panel in the elevator car including, for each floor, at least one car push button including a switching element associated with the push button, and an elevator control system responsive to the activation of the hall push button or the car push button for one of the floors for causing the elevator car to move to said floor. The retrofit voice actuated system includes at least one voice controller operative for causing the elevator control system to move the elevator car to said floor in response to the voice controller receiving an audio prompt from a user. 1. A system for controlling the movement of an elevator car between floors of a multi-floor structure , the system comprising:at least one hall push button on each floor accessible to the elevator car;a car operating panel in the elevator car, the car operating panel including, for each floor, at least one car push button, wherein each push button has a switching element associated with the push button;an elevator control system configured to respond to the activation of the hall push button or the car push button for one of the floors for causing the elevator car to move to said floor; andat least one voice controller configured for causing the elevator control system to move the elevator car to said floor in response to the voice controller receiving a predetermined audio prompt from a user.2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the voice controller is operative in parallel with said at least one hall push button.3.
