A process for the disposal of treatment fluid runoff from drinking water facilities cleaning procedures is disclosed. Due to accumulating sediments, mineral deposits and biological contamination, drinking water tanks and facilities must be cleaned on a regular basis to guarantee water quality and reduce the amount of chlorination required. Various cleaning processes are known, which produce contaminated treatment fluid runoff. The invention provides a runoff disposal process including the principle steps of collecting the runoff in a holding facility, analysing the pH of the runoff, neutralizing the pH of the runoff with a pH neutralizing agent, and filtering the runoff to remove suspended particulates. Additional steps may include analyzing the chlorine residual in the runoff, and de-chlorinating the runoff with a de-chlorinating agent.

A portable flocculation, filtration and chlorination system

Номер: GB0002479729A
Принадлежит:

A portable flocculation, filtration and chlorinisation system intended for the purification of non-saline water drawn from a variety of sources e.g. surface water, river, borehole etc. to drinking water conditions. This is achieved by the already flocculated water passing through two primary filters. Chlorinisation takes place by the use of a water-driven dosing pump capable of dosing at the rate of 2ppm and upwards as required. The water then passes through its final stage of purification where use is made of an advanced filter media. This media is selfsterilising because of its permanent high surface catalytic properties and negative zeta potential. The negative zeta potential allows the filter media to adsorb positive charged metal ions from the water such as iron and manganese. The water having passed through this filter is of micron or sub micron standard. The treated water is then stored in an incorporated holding tank ready for later use as and when required. This stored water is ...

The invention is directed to a microbiological interception enhanced filter medium, preferably having an adsorbent prefilter located upstream from the filter medium. Preferably, the prefilter is adapted to remove natural organic matter in an influent prior to the influent contacting the microbiological interception enhanced filter medium, thereby preventing loss of charge on the filter medium. The microbiological interception enhanced filter medium is most preferably comprised of fibrillated cellulose nanofibers, in particular, lyoccll nanofibers. At least a portion of the surface of the at least some of the nanofibers have formed thereon a microbiological interception enhancing agent comprising a cationic metal complex. A filter medium of the present invention provides greater than about 4 log viral interception, and greater than about 6 log bacterial interception.

Methods for the treatment of ballast water

Номер: US20130056648A1
Принадлежит: Fahs Stagemyer LLC

A process has been developed to selectively dissociate target molecules into component products compositionally distinct from the target molecule, wherein the bonds of the target molecule do not reform because the components are no longer reactive with each other. Dissociation is affected by treating the target molecule with light at a frequency and intensity, alone or in combination with a catalyst in an amount effective to selectively break bonds within the target molecule. Dissociation does not result in re-association into the target molecule by the reverse process, and does not produce component products which have a change in oxidation number or state incorporated oxygen or other additives because the process does not proceed via a typical reduction-oxidation mechanism. This process can be used for the remediation of water, particularly ballast water.

Принадлежит: Individual

A negative pressure aeration system, created by atmospheric siphon pressure above the waterline and mechanical pump suction below the waterline, which impedes the growth of organic matter. A waterfall in vacuum effect is created within a processing unit that aerates the raw water as it falls through the air chamber of the processing unit housing, which assists in the suppression of organic growth by reducing the contact surface area within the processing unit. A chemical tank allows an anti-fouling chemical to be added to the entire system and a power supply allows flexible electrodes driven by a vacuum to create a further anti-fouling benefit throughout the components of the system.
