In an embodiment, an asphalt emulsion includes a base asphalt component, water, and an oxidized high density polyethylene. The base asphalt component is present in an amount of from about 15 to about 70 weight %, the water is present in an amount of at least about 25 weight %, and the oxidized high density polyethylene is present in an amount of from about 1 to about 20 weight %, where all amounts are based on the total weight of the asphalt emulsion. The oxidized high density polyethylene has an acid value of from about 5 to about 50 mgKOH/g. The asphalt emulsion is free of aggregate and other mineral materials.

The present invention relates to a crack inhibition type cement concrete composition and maintenance method of road pavement using the same. According to the present invention, the crack inhibition type cement concrete composition comprises 5 to 30 wt% of a binder, 30 to 70 wt% of a fine aggregate, 20 to 60 wt% of a coarse aggregate, 1 to 30 wt% of water, and 0.1 to 20 wt% of a performance modifier. The binder usually comprises 35 to 96 wt% of Portland cement, 1 to 40 wt% of blast furnace slag, 0.5 to 20 wt% of metakaolin, 0.5 to 20 wt% of silicate white clay, 0.5 to 10 wt% of emery powder, 0.5 to 10 wt% of sodium magnesium silicate, 0.5 to 10 wt% of a vinyl acetate-vinylidene copolymer, and 0.5 to 10 wt% of a water repellent agent. The performance modifier comprises 40 to 98 wt% of methyl acrylate-methyl methacrylate copolymer, 0.5 to 20 wt% of styrene-methyl methacrylate copolymer, 0.5 to 20 wt% of octadecyltrimethoxysilane, 0.5 to 15 wt% of polyolefin, and 0.5 to 15 wt% of polyvinyl formal. According to the present invention, it is possible to prevent cracks due to drying shrinkage, improve long term strength and durability by mixing binder materials, and improve corrosion resistance and wear resistance, thereby prolonging durability of road pavement and reducing maintenance costs.

The addition of polymer, oligomer, or wax can increase the softening point of the asphalt, decrease the penetration of the asphalt, and/or shorten the oxidation of the asphalt. In some embodiments, polymer, oligomer, or wax is added to an oxidized asphalt. The polymer, oligomer, or wax can be made by catalytic depolymerization and/or thermal degradation of polymeric material. The polymeric material can be polystyrene, polypropylene, polyethylene, a combination of polypropylene and polyethylene or recycled plastics. In some embodiments, addition of the polymer, oligomer, or wax improves the performance grade of a paving asphalt binder alone or in combination with other modifiers such as ground tire rubber and polymers. The addition of wax can increase the high service temperature of the asphalt binder.

The present invention provides a modified asphalt concrete composition for railway and a construction method thereof. According to the present invention, the modified asphalt concrete composition comprises with respect to 100 parts by weight of asphalt: 1 to 25 parts by weight of styrene-isoprene-styrene; 1 to 25 parts by weight of hydrogenated petroleum resin; 500 to 2,000 parts by weight of aggregates; 10 to 90 parts by weight of fine powder aggregates; 0.5 to 10 parts by weight of a modifier; 0.5 to 25 parts by weight of ethylene-propylene copolymer; 0.1 to 2 parts by weight of cellulose fiber; and 0.1 to 2 parts by weight of an antioxidant. Accordingly, the modified asphalt concrete composition for railway provides high coagulation force and high binding force, thereby providing effects of good durability and easily performing base pavement on a railway track bed at low cost without easily generating plastic deformation, aging, and/or defoliation.

In the event of cement-matrix failure, or bonding failure between the cement/casing interface or the cement/borehole-wall interface, the polymer particles swell when contacted by hydrogen sulfide. Asphalt can be modified by polymers, oligomers, and waxes made from polymeric material. The addition of polymer, oligomer, or wax can increase the softening point of the asphalt, decrease the penetration of the asphalt, and/or shorten the oxidation of the asphalt. In some embodiments, polymer, oligomer, or wax is added to an oxidized asphalt. The polymer, oligomer, or wax can be made by catalytic depolymerization and/or thermal degradation of polymeric material. The polymeric material can be polystyrene, polypropylene, polyethylene, a combination of polypropylene and polyethylene or recycled plastics. In some embodiments, addition of the polymer, oligomer, or wax improves the performance grade of a paving asphalt binder alone or in combination with other modifiers such as ground tire rubber and polymers. The addition of wax can increase the high service temperature of the asphalt binder.

The concrete composition comprises: 0.09-1.0 wt% of macro polypropylene fiber; at least one among 0.1-0.22 wt% of polyvinyl alcohol fiber and 0.07-0.2 wt% of polypropylene fiber; 17-26 wt% of cement; 3-8 wt% of water; 21-34 wt% of fine aggregate; and 38-57 wt% of coarse aggregate. The use of the concrete composition for power supply road eliminates numerous problems such as high surface permeability, destruction and cracks between the power supply road and concrete occurring due to weakened adhesion or physical impact created when transported or installed.
