In another aspect, aqueous hard surface cleaners comprising at least one nonionic or amphoteric surfactant derived from a metathesis-derived C10-C17 monounsaturated acid, octadecene-1, 18-dioic acid, or their ester derivatives are disclosed. The aqueous cleaners noted above rival or outperform commercial baselines in a Gardner straight- line washability test. Industrial degreasers comprising a C10 or C12 amide solvent and derived from a metathesis-derived C10-C17 monounsaturated acid are superior to commercial standards.

Alkoxylated fatty ester compositions are disclosed. In one aspect, the compositions comprise a reaction product of a metathesis-derived C10-C17 monounsaturated acid, octadecene-1,18-dioic acid, or their ester derivatives with one or more alkylene oxides in the presence of an insertion catalyst to give an alkoxylated fatty ester. In another aspect, the metathesis-derived C10-C17 monounsaturated acid, octadecene-1,18-dioic acid, or its ester derivative is reacted with a glycol ether or a glycol ether alkoxylate, to give an alkoxylated fatty ester. Способ заключается во взаимодействии смеси алкилдиметиламинов, содержащей додецилдиметиламин и тетрадецилдиметиламин, полученной в результате очистки ректификацией технической смеси третичных аминов, с бензилхлоридом при перемешивании и повышенной температуре. При этом взаимодействие указанной смеси с бензилхлоридом ведут при их массовом соотношении (1,57-1, 87):1. Желательно использовать бензилхлорид, очищенный перегонкой при атмосферном давлении и температуре 177-178oС. The esteramines comprise a reaction product of a metathesis-derived C10-C17 monounsaturated acid, octadecene-1,18-dioic acid, or their ester derivatives with a tertiary alkanolamine. Derivatives made by quaternizing, sulfonating, alkoxylating, sulfating, and/or sulfitating the esteramines are also disclosed. In one aspect, the ester derivative of the C10-C17 monounsaturated acid or octadecene-1,18-dioic acid is a lower alkyl ester. The process is performed at a temperature between 50 °C and 140 °C by reacting a tertiary amine and an alkyl halide in a tubular reactor at a pressure sufficient to keep the alkyl halide dissolved in the reaction mixture. The molar ratio between the tertiary amine and the alkyl halide is from 1:1.3 to 1:2.9 and the pressure is suitably between 12 to 65 bar. The process could be performed either with or without a solvent present, preferably without a solvent. The process gives high product yields and low amounts of by-products.
