There is disclosed a continuous process for refining whole grain corn to obtain a prime corn starch fraction, an animal feed product and, optionally, corn oil. The process comprises dry milling corn kernels to provide an endosperm fraction, a germ fraction, a fiber (hull) fraction and a cleanings fraction, wet milling the endosperm fraction including using two distinct steeping steps, one upstream and the other downstream of an impact milling step, to provide a mill starch slurry. The process further comprises removing fine fiber tailings from the mill starch slurry, separating the slurry into a starch-rich fraction and protein-rich fraction, concentrating the protein-rich fraction, directly combining the fiber (hull), cleanings, fine fiber tailings and protein-rich concentrate without removing corn oil therefrom, with the germ fraction to provide a wet animal feed product, and drying the feed product. Доводят температуру смеси до температуры, которая приводит к клейстеризации крахмала в указанной смеси и к инактивации по меньшей мере одного амилолитического фермента, обеспеченного исходным материалом на стадии, и одновременно выполняют высокосдвиговое перемешивание указанной смеси при помощи смесителя кольцевого слоя. Далее обеспечивают инкубацию смеси до достижения желаемой степени гидролиза. The present invention provides process for treating crop kernels, comprising the steps of a) soaking kernels in water to produce soaked kernels; b) grinding the soaked kernels; c) treating the soaked kernels in the presence of an effective amount of an enzyme composition comprising: i) a protease, and ii) a cellulolytic composition, wherein step c) is performed before, during or after step b). 2. Methods of and systems for recovering starch before fermentation in a dry mill process and/or a wet mill process. The starch is able to be further purified. The starch can be used as a feedstock for biotech uses, such as, making one or more types of butanols. The method is able to recover starch from floury and horny endosperm. A method for producing ethanol starting from corn flours, which provides for the milling of the corn, the separation of the light fractions (bran), a first refining of the milled fractions, a first sifting with germ separation, a second refining of the milled fractions, and a second sifting with germ separation. In particular, according to the invention, impact milling of the wet corn is provided so as to preserve the largest possible average particle size of the milled fractions, and subsequent crushing of the germ is also provided, so as to facilitate size separation thereof. With respect to known systems for producing ethanol starting from corn flours, the method according to the invention allows to extract from corn at least 7%, preferably at least 10% (by weight with respect to the initial product) of pure germ (i.e., germ not contaminated by other components) and at least 1% pure bran, preferably at least 2.5%, before transfer to the ethanol extraction plant, with the previously cited consequent advantages and overcoming the drawbacks that arise from using the systems that constitute the background art. In particular, the extraction from corn of at least 7% of the germ, preferably at least 10%, and of at least 1% bran, preferably at least 2.5%, allows to achieve drastic reductions in the production of pasty residues in the subsequent ethanol extraction process.

The selected size for separation may be 60 microns. The vortex separator may be a hydrocyclone or a multihydrocyclone, e.g. of the kind described in Specification 686,072. The overflow fraction may be passed to starch tables or separators or treated as described in Specification 717,918 to separate starch from gluten. Two or more hydrocyclones or multihydrocyclones may be used in series. The overflow fraction from the second and any following hydrocyclones may be returned to the first hydrocyclone.
