Pitch production systems utilizing coal tar or decant oil for coal. or petroleum based pitch are disclosed. Total pitch production yields are increased by heat treating distillate fractions from the pitch production process. A heat treatment system and process are disclosed in embodiments. The heaviest distillates having the highest molecular weights are subjected to heat treatment, though other embodiments contemplate heat treating a variety of combined distillate fractions. The heat treatment systems require heat soaking the distillate(s) at elevated temperatures of 459-535° C. at a near-constant temperature with near-uniform flow. A fraction of the heat-treated distillate may be reintroduced to the pitch production system as part of a continuous process. 1. A process for producing mesophase pitch from high-temperature coal tar comprises: removing salts and quinoline insoluble fraction from a high-temperature coal tar to obtain a decant oil; using the decant oil as a hydrogenation feedstock, or pre-distilling the decant oil to obtain a residue with a boiling point higher than 230 and formulating the residue into a hydrogenation feedstock; catalytic hydrorefining the hydrogenation feedstock to obtain a hydrofined oil; distilling the hydrofined oil to obtain hydrogenated pitch; and subjecting the hydrogenated pitch to the thermal polymerization to obtain the mesophase pitch. The process has features such as an easily controllable degree of hydrogenation, complete removal of impurities, good raw material flowability, not tending to form the carbon deposition and the coking during the process, and not tending to jam the reactor. The product has a high content of mesophase pitch, a low softening point and a low impurity content. 1. Reaction mass is located in the reaction zone of the flow reactor for 6-10 hours to obtain petroleum medium-temperature binder / impregnation pitch or 18-20 hours to produce petroleum high-temperature pitch binder with natural gas consumption of 0.015-0.025 kg/h per kg of raw material with recirculation of the reaction mixture. Distilled low-molecular weight reaction products are sent to a separation column to obtain hydrocarbon gases, gasoline, light and heavy gas oils. The reformed tar production process of the present invention comprises: a first distillation step of distilling tar as the by-product of the cokes process at 100 to 180C (a boiling point of naphthalene) in a first distillation tower, thereby removing water and/or a first light oil having a boiling point of 180C (the boiling point of naphthalene) or less; a second distillation step of distilling an output having water and/or the first light oil removed in the first distillation step at 300 to 350C in a second distillation tower to separate the output into a second light oil having a boiling point lower than that of naphthalene, a mixed oil including naphthalene, wash oil and reformed tar, and the reformed tar respectively; and a third distillation step of distilling the mixed oil in an output of the second distillation step at 220 to 260C in a third distillation tower to separate the output into naphthalene, wash oil, and reformed tar respectively.

FIELD: oil and gas industry. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of raw material for production of isotropic dense graphitized structural materials and can be used in oil refining industry. To obtain mesophase pitch, the raw material is heated and subsequently carbonized with raising temperature at a rate of not more than 20 °C per hour to temperature of carbonization and formation of mesophase. When this temperature is reached, conditions which stimulate growth of the number and size of mesophase particles are maintained. By raising the temperature, the formed mesophase matrix is fixed. As raw materials there are used asphaltenes obtained as a result of rectification heated from 300 to 320 °C from commercial heavy high-viscosity oil in vacuum column with top temperature of not less than 125 °C, bottom temperature of not less than 350 °C and an absolute top pressure of 8 kPa with subsequent deasphalting of the tar removed from the bottom of the column. Material is heated from carbonation beginning temperature of 530–550 °C to the temperature of completion of formation of mesophase 630–650 °C and fixation temperature of mesophases 780–800 °C at rate of 20 °C per hour. Pyrolysis of the feedstock is carried out in an inert atmosphere at pressure of 5 to 8 MPa to obtain mesocarbon microspheres, which are directed for further processing, and a loose coke residue, which is sent for demetallization. Изобретение касаетс  углехимии, в частности получени  мезофазногопека. Цель- повышение качества последнего. Дл  этого используют лигроиновый деготь, каменноугольный деготь или т желый конденсат, пол- ученный из каменноугольного дегт  однократным испарением. В случае использовани  двух последних материалов их предварительно экстрагируют ксилолом в массовом соотношении 1,0:(2-3)с получением продукта, содержащего 0,4-2,2 мас.% ксилолнерастворимых соединений. Исходный битуминозный материал подвергают гидрированию при повышенных температуре и давлении в присутствии растворител  - донора водорода с последующей термообработкой при 390-470°С в течение 5-80 мин. Термообработку битуминозного материала ведут при 470-530°С, 2-3 МПа, при необходимости в присутствии поглотительного масла (интервал кипени  240-280°С, не содержит нерастворимых в ксилоле веществ ), вз того в массовом соотношении с материалом (0.17-0,76): 1, с получением продукта, содержащего 3,5-15.9% ксилол- нерастворимых веществ, который затем обрабатывают ксилолом массовое соотношение (2-4):1 и подают на гидрогенизацию . Последнюю ведут в присутствии донора водорода - гидрированного антраценового масла или тетрагидрохиноли- на. Термообработку гидрогенизата провод т с получением продукта с т.разм. по Меттлеру 289-310°С, содержащего 0,2-7,9 мас.% хинолиннерастворимых веществ, 3,6-9,4 мас.% ксилолрастворимых веществ и 95- 100% мезофазы. A large difference of freezing points of the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (bicyclic, tricyclic and tetracyclic) is used for separating the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons by means of constant temperature condensation and centrifugal filtration. A separation process is carried out at a normal pressure and a low temperature, thereby effectively reducing the energy consumption of the separation section. Pitch production systems utilizing coal tar or decant oil for coal or petroleum based pitch are disclosed. Total pitch production yields are increased by heat treating distillate fractions from the pitch production process. A heat treatment system and process are disclosed in embodiments. The heaviest distillates having the highest molecular weights are subjected to heat treatment, though other embodiments contemplate heat treating a variety of combined distillate fractions. The heat treatment systems require heat soaking the distillate(s) at elevated temperatures of 459-535° C. at a near-constant temperature with near-uniform flow. A fraction of the heat-treated distillate may be reintroduced to the pitch production system as part of a continuous process.

A process for thermally polymerizing a liquid hydrocarbon pitch precursor, or fractionating a crude pitch, by direct contact heating with an immiscible molten fluid, preferably molten metal, is disclosed. A crude pitch, which may contain water, contaminants and/or distillables, or a liquid hydrocarbon feed such as FCC slurry oil, is heated by direct contact heat exchange with molten fluid, preferably a molten metal bath, operating at a temperature of 100 to 6000C. The bath is maintained at a temperature and pressure sufficient to induce thermal polymerization of a pitch precursor and/or vaporize a desired amount of contaminants or volatile material from a crude pitch to produce a pitch product having a desired softening point. New pitch compositions having a high softening point are also produced.

Pitch production systems utilizing coal tar or decant oil for coal or petroleum based pitch are disclosed. Total pitch production yields are increased by heat treating distillate fractions from the pitch production process. A heat treatment system and process are disclosed in embodiments. The heaviest distillates having the highest molecular weights are subjected to heat treatment, though other embodiments contemplate heat treating a variety of combined distillate fractions. The heat treatment systems require heat soaking the distillate(s) at elevated temperatures of 459 - 535°C at a near-constant temperature with near-uniform flow. A fraction of the heat-treated distillate may be reintroduced to the pitch production system as part of a continuous process.
