A lubrication block, with or without a cavity, or a lubrication bag, for lubricating an ID surface of a tyre and an OD surface of a plurality of pads of rotary trunnion supported equipment, such as a kiln, cooler, dryer, reactor, granulator and ball mill operating at temperatures from 100°F to 500°F or higher. The tyre has inner and outer faces, and the inner face of the tyre is slipped over the plurality of pads or filler bars welded to an outer shell of the rotary equipment. The lubrication block or bag is sized so as to be inserted in between the pads. The lubrication block comprises a lubricant and a solid carrier for said lubricant. The carrier is selected from the group consisting of waxes such as paraffin, polymers, copolymers such as ethylene or polyethylene glycol or mixtures thereof, and the lubricant comprises powdered carbon and a soft metal powder (e. g. copper, zinc, aluminum) or a noble metal powder (e.g. silver, copper). The lubrication bag contains a lubricant like the lubrication block and is made of a material selected from the group consisting of plastic materials such as polymers, copolymers or mixtures thereof. The carrier or the material of the bag melts and vaporizes at the temperature of the tyre, leaving very little harmful residue on the tyre except for the powdered carbon, the soft metal powders and the noble metal powders. In this way, the powdered carbon and the metal powders are capable of lubricating the ID surface of the tyre uniformly, without having to use messy hoses, pumps, or kegs containing the lubricant, in order to apply the lubricant to the ID surface of the tyre.

There is disclosed a metal sheet product, more particularly formed food container stock and/or industrial sheet product, which has been treated with an ester-free, lubricant composition that is suitable for direct food contact. A lubricant for working aluminium comprises an olefin or olefins of formula wherein R and R1 are hydrogen or fluorine, R1 may additionally be mono-, di- or trifluoromethyl and R11 is a saturated straight chain alkyl or fluoroalkyl radical having at least 8 carbon atoms. Preferred are straight-chain olefins or fluoro-olefins having 12 to 25 carbon atoms and unsaturation in the 1 or 2 position, and include cetene; 3,3,4-trifluorohexadecene-1; 1,1,1,2-tetrafluorohexadecene-2 and mixtures of olefins derived from the cracking of paraffin or the Fischer-Tropsch process. The olefins may be used by themselves, or with lubricating mineral oils or diesters, or diluted or dissolved in benzene, chlorinated hydrocarbons or kerosene. They may be also used in the form of aqueous emulsions or as greases. The effectiveness of the lubricants is compared with that of saturated compounds, or with compounds wherein the unsaturation is not in the 1- or 2-position.

The wire drawing process includes the steps of descaling a wire to be drawn, coating the descaled wire with a lubricant, and drawing the lubricant-coated wire through a drawing die. The descaling step is conducted in a mechanical manner. At the lubricant coating step, the descaled wire is once coated with lime powder and then with metallic soap powder. Thus. the three steps recited are conducted under dry and continuous conditions. At the lubricant coating step, the lime-coated wire may be coated with powder of sodium stearate before it is coated with the metallic soap.
