A cold forming lubricant and a process for cold forming ferrous and non-ferrous metals such as steel and aluminum utilizes certain sulfur, chlorine and phosphorous compounds, or mixtures thereof, for example sulfurized or chlorinated oleic acids and phosphate esters of polyoxyethylene based non-ionic surfactants, in combination with a dry film lubricant system.

The present invention relates to additives for lubricating oils and greases which endow said lubricating oils and greases with extremely good performance characteristics under boundary lubrication conditions. Such additives are derivatives of monofunctional or difunctional perfluoropolyethers constituted by mercaptans, sulfides, disulfides, phosphines, phosphine-oxides and phosphoric acid triesters.

HYDROCARBYL ETHERS OF SULFUR-CONTAINING HYDROXYL DERIVED AROMATICS AS SYNTHETIC LUBRICANT BASE STOCKS

Alkyl ethers of sulfur-containing hydroxyl-derived aromatics have been found to be effective as high-performance synthetic lubricant base stocks with superior catalytic them5al/oxidative stabilities, excellent antiwear and load-carrying properties, as exemplified by bisphenol sulfide (BPS) based products. These ethers are also highly useful in fuel compositions.

ESTER FLUIDS WITH HIGH TEMPERATURE STABILITY

An ester-containing reaction product of a carbonyl compound, preferably an acyl halide and a thiodiphenol has high temperature antioxidant properties. The reaction product is useful as a synthetic lubricant base fluid or as an antioxidant additive when used in minor amounts of 0.01 to 10 wt.% in a mineral oil or hydrocracked oil lubricant base fluid. The reaction product can also be used in a fuel.

Ester lubricants containing polyoxyalkylene phenothiazines

Synthetic ester lubricant blends are described which contain 1-90 weight percent of an N-substituted polyoxyalkylene phenothiazine. The polyoxyalkylene group can be derived from ethylene, propylene, butylene or styrene oxides. The blends have superior oxidative and thermal stability and at the same time have good viscosity characteristics and pour points over a wide range of temperatures.

The transmission unit is put into operation for the first time (27), the lubricant for further operation only being formed by the abrasion of the rotary parts and distribution of the abraded matter in the cooling liquid. The transmission unit is then operationally ready (28). Furthermore, a lubricant produced by this method is described.
