The invention is achieved by the method steps of using a boron substance of pharmaceutical quality ( 1, 11 ), using a liquid as solvent, applying a mixing ratio between the boron substance and the solvent ( 3, 13 ) of preferably 1 g of boron per 15-25 litres of liquid, agitating the mixture for an initial predetermined period of time ( 4, 14 ), adding further liquid to dilute the solution ( 6, 15 ), the quantity of liquid being chosen such that a fmal user mixture reaches a concentration of between 20 and 30 ppm of boron ( 8 ), and further agitating the mixture ( 7, 16 ) for a second predetermined period of time so that the boron substance is completely dissolved in the boron solution, resulting in a boron solution which is stable over time.

A method of making a solid-state lubricant coating on various substrates is disclosed. The method includes the steps of making a homogeneous slurry comprising powder of an oxide of a metal, graphene, and a polymeric binder with organic volatile solvent; coating a substrate with the homogeneous slurry with desired thicknesses; and drying the slurry on the substrate naturally or applying additional heat, resulting in a solid lubricant coating on the substrate. Substrates with coated solid composite lubricant show wear reduction and lower coefficient of friction compared with uncoated substrates.

The lubricant of claim 1 , where the weight ratio of the one or more alkyl esters to the fatty acid blend is from 1.5:1 to 2.5:1.3. An adhesion promoting coating for forming a base coating layer on a substrate material onto which a lubricious top layer coating can be formed , comprising:a polymeric adhesion promoter;a first crosslinked polymeric matrix formed by a first monomeric or polymeric crosslinking agent, whereinthe polymeric adhesion promoter is a block copolymer comprising hydrophobic and hydrophilic polymer blocks and/or a hydrophilic polymer comprising hydrophilic functional groups, where from 10% to 100% of the hydrophilic functional groups are capped with a hydrophobic functional group.3. These liquid compositions have light colors and excellent heat stability. A method of producing high purity polyol esters comprises reacting a polyol with an excess amount of a linear or branched aliphatic monocarboxylic C3-20 acid to esterify less than the total amount of the polyol present to form an intermediate reaction composition having a hydroxyl value of from 7 to about 50 mg KOH/g. An anhydride of the corresponding linear or branched aliphatic monocarboxylic C3-20 acid is added to the intermediate reaction composition in an amount of from 1 to about 2.5 equivalents of available OH in the intermediate composition to form a reaction mixture. The reaction mixture is heated for 5-30 minutes or until all of the corresponding anhydride has reacted to form a reaction product. The reaction product is then de-acidified. No metal or acid catalyst or bleaching agents are present in any of the above reaction steps at a concentration above about 15 ppm.

A continuous process for producing a polyurea concentrate or powder. The process includes combing at least one amine and an isocayante in the presence of a liquid diluent or a base oil in a rotor stator mixer. The present disclosure describes a strategy to create self-healing, slippery self-lubricating polymers. Lubricating liquids with affinities to polymers can be utilized to get absorbed within the polymer and form a lubricant layer (of the lubricating liquid) on the polymer. The lubricant layer can repel a wide range of materials, including simple and complex fluids (water, hydrocarbons, crude oil and bodily fluids), restore liquid-repellency after physical damage, and resist ice, microorganisms and insects adhesion. Some exemplary applications where self-lubricating polymers will be useful include energy-efficient, friction-reduction fluid handling and transportation, medical devices, anti-icing, optical sensing, and as self-cleaning, and anti-fouling materials operating in extreme environments.
