1467508 Dialysis apparatus RHONEPOULENC SA 31 May 1974 [1 June 1973 2 April 1974] 24260/74 Heading B1X [Also in Division D1] At least two hollow fibres of macromolecular fluid-permeable material are twisted together to form a cord, the resulting assembly being useful in fluid fractionating apparatus since the twisted formation creates turbulence inside and outside the hollow tubes. In Fig. 11 cords 100 constructed as above are placed parallel to one another between end walls 101 of epoxy resin. The cords and end walls are sealed into a container having a lid 103 and end caps 104, 105. The caps 104, 105 have inlet and outlet pipes 106, 107 in communication with the interior of the hollow fibres. The container has pipes 108, 109 communicating with the exterior of the fibres. Preferably not more than six hollow fibres are twisted together to form a cord. Applications of the apparatus include ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis and the dialysis and oxygenation of blood. Several methods of, and apparatus for, twisting the fibres together; and for causing such twisted assemblies to imbricate with one another are described and illustrated, see D1T.

Crimped hollow fibers for fluid separations, bundles containing the hollow fibers, and apparatus and process for separating fluids

Номер: GB0002009034A
Принадлежит:

Hollow, semi-permeable fibers which are intended for use in fluid separations have crimps with amplitudes up to 50% of the external diameter of the fiber and an average crimp period of less than 5 cms. The fibers are sufficiently rigid to retain its crimp form during fluid separation. Preferred fibers have an outside diameter of 150-800 microns, a wall thickness of 50-200 microns and a crimp amplitude of 15-250 microns. The tensile modulus is at least 40 kg/mm<2>. The relatively low amplitude crimps enable good fluid dispersion through a bundle comprising substantially parallelly-oriented hollow fibers such that shell-side (i.e., the exterior sides of the hollow fibers) feed of the fluid mixture to be treated can be attractive, even when the flow of the feed is predominantly axial to the hollow fibers. Shell-side feed of the fluid mixture to be treated is often particularly advantageous since the fluid mixture can frequently be recovered from the fluid separation with a relatively low pressure ...

The invention comprises a multi-ribbed belt having a tensile cord(10). The tensile cord having areas (5, 6) of opposite twist along a length of a single cord. In particular, a tensile cord comprises S twist (5) sections and Z twist (6) sections. An S twist section is separated from a Z twist section by a node (3), thereby creating alternate S twist and Z twist sections along a length of a tensile cord. Therefore, the inventive belt comprises a belt having a tensile cord having a random distribution of S twist sections and Z twist sections along a length of the belt as well as across a width of the belt. This significantly reduces tracking force while using only a single cord in belt construction.

The industrial fabric includes, as at least some of the MD and/or CD yarns, sheath/core yarns which have a core yarn surrounded by a sheath. The core yarn and the sheath are visually distinguishable by the naked eye from one another, such as by color, so that wear on a surface of the industrial fabric can be monitored visually during its operating life by the visual change that would become apparent when the sheath is worn away from the core yarn.

PAPER MACHINE CLOTHINGS CONSTRUCTED OF INTERCONNECTED BICOMPONENT FIBERS

Номер: EP0000991799A1
Принадлежит:

The present invention is directed towards paper machine clothings comprised of interconnected bicomponent fibers (1, 2). In one embodiment of the invention, the paper machine clothing is comprised entirely of bicomponent fibers in both the machine and cross machine direction. Advantage is taken of the unique bicomponent fiber structure, which permits selection of different materials for the sheath and core components. For instance, the sheath material may have a melting point lower than the melting point of the core material. Accordingly, a fused, bonded structure (5) of bicomponent fibers can be formed where the sheath component has a melting point lower than the core component. By heating a fabric constructed of bicomponent fibers to a temperature greater than the melting point of the sheath component and lower than the melting point of the core component, with subsequent cooling of the fabric to below melt temperature of the sheath component, a fused, bonded structure will result.

[Also in Division F2] In a flat, V, or toothed driving belt comprising reinforcing fibres or cords embedded in a body of natural or synthetic rubber, the outer surfaces of the cords are metal coated to improve bonding with the rubber. The fibres, e.g.- of a polyamide, polycarbonate, polyester, polyethylene, P.V.C., R.T.F.E., glass fibre, or asbestos fibre, can be twisted together into cords prior to the metal coating. Iron, nickel or chromium is deposited to a thickness of about 1 micron, preferably by thermal decomposition of metal compounds from the gaseous state. The metal coated cords are wound on a metal core and heated to 180-200‹ C. by electrical resistance or induction heating or by chemical heating, and molten rubber poured around the core to surround the cords. The metal coating may form the conductor for resistance heating. The resulting belt is stripped ...

Expanded graphite knitting yarn and a gland packing

An expanded graphite knitting yarn (1) according to the present invention is covered or bound and covered with a reinforcing material (3) made of a braided body such as stainless steel line members, before an outer periphery of an expanded graphite tape (2) having a predetermined width, which has been subjected to a twisting process, is braided. Therefore, an amount of the expanded graphite particles exfoliated from ends of the expanded graphite tape (2) in the twisting process can be extremely reduced. Moreover, this can prevent the expanded graphite particles from being exfoliated from the end of the expanded graphite tape (4) in a braiding process. Furthermore, the plural expanded graphite knitting yarns are put together and subjected to either braiding or twisting process, thereby forming a gland packing. This can enhance a sealing property and a pressure resistance property of the gland packing.

The present invention relates to a fiber-reinforced hose having a multilayer structure having an inner rubber layer, an outer rubber layer and a reinforcing fiber layer consisting of a reinforcing yarn between the inner rubber layer and the inner layer. of outer rubber. The reinforcing yarn has at least one raw yarn (24). The raw yarn is obtained by fixedly interweaving short fibers (22) with multiple monofilaments which form a bundle of parallel monofilaments (19) so as to intersect the parallel monofilaments and protrude from the multiple monofilaments.
