A resilient pre-cut fibrous insulation blanket includes first and second insulation blankets. The blankets each have a first major surface with one or more longitudinally extending cuts in the surface that are spaced inwardly from lateral edges of the surface and spaced apart from each other. The cuts only partially sever the blankets to form separable connectors in the blankets that join adjacent blanket sections formed by the cuts. The first major surfaces of the blankets are bonded to each other, with the cuts in the major surfaces of the blankets aligned longitudinally, to form a batt with longitudinally extending batt sections joined by the separable connectors in the blankets whereby the batt can be handled as a unit or one or more batt sections can be separated from the remainder of the batt by hand to form a batt of lesser width.

BREATHABLE LAMINATE PERMANENTLY CONFORMABLE TO THE CONTOURS OF A WEARER

Номер: EP0001240014A1
Принадлежит:

A breathable, substantially liquid impermeable laminate is provided that is permanently conformable to the contours of a wearer's body when used in a personal care absorbent article or a medical article. The laminate includes a breathable (preferably microporous) film and a fibrous nonwoven web. Both the film and the web are extendible in a cross direction to a width at least 25 % greater than an original, unstretched width upon application of a stretching force. The web and the film, and the overall laminate, exhibit little or no retractive force once they have been stretched. A diaper or other garment can be constructed in undersized fashion using the laminate, permitting material savings. When the garment is worn, the laminate stretches only where needed to provide a substantially perfect fit on the wearer. The minimal retractive force avoids the skin marks, rashes, etc. that can result from elastic garments.

FIELD: textile, paper. SUBSTANCE: bundles of fibres with a total denier of 10000 to 500000 dtex is obtained by binding thermoplastic, conjugate, continuous fibres, which have an individual fibre denier of 0.5 to 100 dtex/f and whose center of gravity of conjugate components varies between the conjugated components in the cross section of fibre. Thermoplastic, conjugate, continuous fibres composing a bundle of fibres have existing coils from 8 to 30 threads per 2.54 cm. Density of bundles of fibres ranges from 100 to 2000 dtex/mm 2 and is determined according to dependence of the D 1 /(W 1 xL 1 ), where D 1 is a total denier, W 1 is width of bundle of fibres and L 1 is a thickness of bundle of fibres. The ratio of canvas density after stretching the bundle to the bundle density is equal to 0.10 or less. The method of producing fabrics comprises the step of pulling the said bundle of fibres with an extraction coefficient from 1.4 to 3.0. Canvas with a total denier from 10000 to 1000000 dtex contains thermoplastic, conjugate, continuous fibres aligned in one direction and have an individual filament denier of 0.5 to 100 dtex/f and whose center of gravity of conjugate components varies between the conjugated components in fibre cross-section. Thermoplastic, conjugate, continuous fibres have spiral circuits from 10 to 100 circuits per 2.54 cm. Density of canvas ranges from 5 to 80 dtex/mm 2 and is determined from the dependence of D 2 / (W 2 xL 2 ), where D 2 is total denier, W 2 is a canvas width, and L 2 is canvas thickness. Methods and apparatus for controlled placement of a polymer composition into a web

Номер: WO1996030432A3

The present invention relates to methods and apparatus for the controlled placement of a shear-thinnable polymer composition into a moving web. The controlled placement is preferably performed by applying the polymer composition onto a surface of a moving web, shear-thinning the composition and placing it into the web, and curing the polymer composition. A preferred apparatus includes one or more process heads (310) that has mounted thereto a rigid knife blade (311) for engagement with the moving web (302). The knife blade (311) is movable vertically and rotationally. The process heads (310) are also movable horizontally along the path of the moving web (302). A plurality of macro and micro tension zones (5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11) are established and are monitored for controlling the apparatus and process. Additional measurements of web density, micro porosity, placement of an internal layer of polymer within the web, analysis of elements on the treated web, and the size of the polymer bead applied to the moving web are measured for controlling online the apparatus and the process of this invention. This method and apparatus produces webs that either has some of its structural elements encapsulated by the polymer composition while at least some of the interstitial spaces of the web are open; or has an internal layer extending through the web in a direction generally spaced from at least one major surface thereof; or has both encapsulated structural elements and an internal layer of polymer composition.
