Screen printer using vibration to improve ink penetration

Номер: US3902414A
Автор: Hans Kudlich, Peter Zimmer
Принадлежит: Individual

A device and process to improve the penetration of a permeable flat shaped material by a liquid compound. A printing or dyeing compound or a penetrating agent is put into vibration relative to the permeable flat shaped material. The acceleration maximum of the vibration motion amounts to at least tenfold the acceleration due to the earth''s gravity. The alternating field of inertial forces caused by the vibrations and acting on the particles of the printing or dyeing compound to be applied or the penetrating agent or the material has superimposed thereon a static field of forces directed essentially normally to the surface of the permeable flat shaped article. The static field of forces is a static field due to gravity, or an applied static field such as an electrostatic field, or a magnetostatic field. The frequency of vibrations may amount to about 100 hertzian units. The permeable flat shaped material may be treated with ultrasonics. The apparatus may have at least one swing table over which the permeable flat shaped material passes and which is provided with suction channels to secure the permeable flat shaped material or a conveyor belt supporting the flat shaped material. The printing or dyeing compound may be vibrated by a pressure chamber arranged underneath the sheet material containing a gaseous or liquid medium, the internal pressure of the pressure chamber being subjected to periodic fluctuations.

Method of printing fabrics

Номер: US4086112A
Автор: Kenneth Porter
Принадлежит: Imperial Chemical Industries Ltd

The invention provides a method of bonding and simultaneously printing a fabric, for example a non-woven web, by contacting the surface of the fabric with an ink comprising a dyestuff supported on a transfer sheet and subjecting discrete areas of the combination to heat and pressure. It is found in many cases that dye is strongly fixed, and that compared to conventional heat-transfer printing the method permits much shorter residence times and the possibility of using an extended range of dyestuffs.

Textile ink jet recording method with temporary halt function

Номер: US6398358B1
Принадлежит: Canon Inc

An ink jet textile printing method forms an image on cloths in an image forming operation by repeating a step of applying ink on the cloths from an ink discharge port of a recording head, the recording head relatively main-scanning to form the image in a main scan direction, and a step of relatively conveying the cloths in a sub-scan direction. The method includes the steps of forming the image on the cloths by applying ink on the cloths from the recording head based on image data. The method further includes the step of temporarily stopping the image forming operation in accordance with an indication to effect a temporary halt of the image forming operation. When the temporary halt is indicated while the recording head performs a main scan in the image forming operation, the image forming operation by the main scan is completed, and then the temporary halt of the image forming operation is effected by moving the recording head to a standby position. The method still further includes the step of releasing the temporary halt of the image forming operation and restarting the image forming operation in accordance with an indication for releasing the temporary halt of the image forming operation. When the release of the temporary halt is indicated, ink is discharged from the ink discharge port and then the image forming operation is restarted.

An odor control substrate that is applied with an activated carbon ink is provided. The activated carbon ink is applied in a pattern that covers from about 25% to about 95% of the surface area of the substrate. Although not covering the entire surface, the present inventors have discovered that the activated carbon ink is still capable of providing good odor reduction qualities to the substrate. To further enhance the aesthetic appeal of the odor control substrate to a consumer, one or more colored inks may also be applied the substrate in a pattern that may or may not overlap with the activated carbon ink pattern. The colored ink(s) may contrast well with the activated carbon ink to provide an overall design that is more aesthetically than otherwise would be provided by a uniform coating of activated carbon ink.

A quilting machine ( 10, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600 ) is provided with a printing station ( 20, 125, 225, 325, 425, 525, 611, 626, 631 ) and a quilting station ( 44, 127, 227, 327, 427, 527, 627, 632 ). The printing station is located either in line and preferably upstream of the quilting station, with a conveyor ( 520 ) extending through each of the stations to convey a web of quilting material through the machine, or is off of the quilting line such that the material with a pre-applied pattern thereon is transferred, preferably in web form, to the line of the second station for the application of a pattern in registration with the first applied pattern. At the quilting station, registration longitudinal and transverse registration is measured and skewing or rotation of the material is determined. Opposite transverse sides of the material are differently adjusted to orient and register the material. A master batch controller ( 90, 135, 235, 335, 435, 535 ) assures that the proper combinations of printed and quilted patterns are combined to allow small quantities of different quilted products to be produced automatically along a material web. Ticking is preprinted with a plurality of different patterns, organized and communicated by the computer so that a print head can scan the material and print different patterns of different panels ( 32 ) across the width of a web. Identifying data ( 40 ) for matching the panels of a mattress product can be provided in data files printed on the fabric. Cutting and slitting of the panels from each other and the quilting and combining of the panels for assembly of a mattress product can be carried out manually or automatically using the data.

A plurality of jet gun bars are spaced apart along the path of travel of a textile material and responsive to pattern data to form patterns on the material. Each gun bar stores and supplies different color dyestuff to color the material. A computer, on each periodic request, supplies pattern data to a predetermined number of gun bars, thereby providing dyestuff to different pattern lines for each request. During a change from printing one pattern to printing another different pattern, for each such request the computer provides data for the other pattern to a first predetermined number of gun bars and data for the one pattern to a second predetermined number of gun bars subsequent to the first number, thereby simultaneously completing the printing of the one pattern and starting the printing of the other pattern.

Принадлежит: Milliken Research Corp

A control system for a textile dying apparatus processes and distributes digitally encoded pattern information. A substrate is moved on a path along which the surface of the substrate comes into operative range of a plurality of arrays arranged along the path of the substrate. Each of the arrays has a plurality of individual dye applicators capable of selectively projecting a stream of dye onto a predetermined portion of the substrate corresponding to a pattern element in a pattern composed of a pattern element matrix with a plurality of pattern elements in each of a plurality of pattern rows. Each pattern element is associated with a visually distinct pattern area. The dye applicators project dye for a time period determined by the pattern information. The method first determines a set of initial values. From the initial values it generates a firing command matrix having, for each dye applicator in each array, a firing command sequence corresponding to the pattern element to which that dye applicator may apply dye in each pattern row. Finally, the method allocates, for simultaneous transmission to each dye applicator in each array, the firing command sequence in the firing command matrix corresponding to the pattern element in the pattern row to be applied to the predetermined portion of the substrate that is passing within operative range of the dye applicator at the time of transmission. <IMAGE>
