A spindle 7 at the centre of lid 4 carries a nut 8 supporting a three arm linkage 10 with slots 11 at its ends to which are pivoted levers 13 having hooks 17 to engage under edge 3. Bushes 18 carried on container 1 engage bearings 19 in the machine frame, one bush 18 having a square section to receive a handle. The frame, which rests on top of a bath is adjustable in length.
