The invention relates to a process for continuous dyeing of filaments based on atactic polyvinyl chloride in the course of their production. The undrawn filaments are impregnated with a composition containing at least one plastosoluble dye while they have a density of between 1.3 and 1.4 g/cm3, are fixed continuously in the presence of steam under pressure at a temperature of between 100 DEG and 120 DEG C. for 2 to 20 seconds, are drawn in a known manner, are then fixed under tension in the presence of steam under pressure at a temperature of between 100 DEG and 130 DEG C. for 1 to 20 seconds, and are then oiled and shrunk in a known manner. Such a process permits quick dyeing, on an industrial scale, with good color fastness.

In-line dyeing of acrylonitrile fibres

The invention is concerned with a method of producing in-line dyed fibers, in a gel state, characterized in that it essentially consists of extruding the spinning dope in a coagulum bath, stretching the resulting filaments, scrubbing said filaments to remove residual solvent, passing the resulting filament tow through a dyeing bath at an overall rate in excess of 4 cm3 bath per second per square centimeter of tow surface area. The overall rate, being preferably in the 4 to 10 cm3/sec per cm2 range, is achieved by means of crossflows to the forward advance direction of said tow, and alternately directed to and from said tow, the tow residence time in the dyeing bath being no longer than 5 seconds. The tow is then subjected to a dye fixing heat treatment, and is then scrubbed, finished, and dried. The method is particularly suitable for use with substantially acrylic and modacrylic fibers.

Textile treatment compositions are produced by a process which comprises mixing in a solvent urea, glyoxal and formaldehyde, as such or as a substance yielding formaldehyde, in a molar ratio of 1:1:2 to 2.5, to form a solution and reacting said urea, glyoxal and formaldehyde at pH of 1.5 to 6.0 and at a temperature of 25 DEG C. to 95 DEG C. for a period of 30 minutes to 72 hours. From 2 to 5 moles of a C1 to C4 alkanol may be incorporated in the solution. The preferred solvent is water. The compositions may be applied to fabrics and cured at 200 to 400 DEG F. using zinc nitrite, zirconium oxychloride, maleic anhydride magnesium chloride, oxalic acid, lactic acid and 2-amino -2- methyl -1- propanol hydrochloride as curing agents. La présente invention concerne un procédé de teinture de filaments obtenus par filage en milieu fondu d'une composition à base de polyamide. Disclosed herein is the preparation of indigo-dyed cotton denim fabrics suitable for use in making cotton denim garments and other denim articles. These indigo-dyed fabrics are prepared from cotton warp yarn which has been pre-treated with an emulsion copolymer prior to being contacted with an aqueous dye liquor comprising a dispersion of an indigo dyestuff. Such copolymer-treated cotton warp yarn can be woven or knitted into cotton denim griege fabrics along with untreated cotton weft yarn. A novel olefin fiber or yarn, textile fabric or film is manufactured using olefin that contains variable amounts of a unique dyeable concentrate additive including relevant amounts of amorphous nylon and nylon 6 and/or nylon 66. Fabrics, fibers, yarns and films made according this invention can be processed using conventional nylon dyeing systems carried out at atmospheric pressure. The dyeable concentrate additive can be easily dosed into a conventional fiber or film extruder or can be formed into blended pellets which can be extruded into olefin fiber or film dyeable at atmospheric pressures. Multiple tones of a color can be dyed in a single dye bath by using different amounts of dyeable concentrate in different yarns or fibers. This invention is of particular value in the apparel, carpet, home furnishings and soft signage industries. Significant energy savings may be realized in carrying out the dyeing processes at atmospheric pressures.

An Independent claim is included for the corresponding plant. Preferred features: The product is immersed for about 10 minutes. Drying in microwaves takes about 5 minutes. In a continuous process, the solution is poured into the bath in quantities which are fully expended. The cloth is continuously supplied and immersed, using rollers (1-5). Further rollers (7, 7') squeeze out the liquid, leaving about 80-100% with respect to the dyed product. The product is continuously extracted over synchronized rollers, for drying.

The process of the parent Specification in which textile articles are placed on forms and enclosed in a chamber under super atmospheric pressure, subjected to spraying with hot treating solution, the latter being collected and recycled, is modified in that the treating solution addititionally contains a chelating agent selected from the group of ethylene diamine tetra acetic acid, diethylene triamine penta-acetic acid and hydroxyethyl ethylene diamine triacetic acid. The treating solution may also contain a nonionic scouring agent e.g. the condensation product of ethylene oxide with fatty acids derived from a vegetable oil such as olive oil. Specified finishing agents which may additionally be included in the treating solution are melamine-formaldehyde and urea-formaldehyde. Acid, direct, pre-metallized, disperse and vat dyestuffs are specified as constituents of the treating solution. Additionally the treating solution may contain a lubricant, e.g. a sorbitol ester. In examples textile articles e.g. nylon stockings are dyed with a solution containing (1) a condensation product of ethylene oxide and olive oil, (2) Stoddard solvent, (3) melamine-formaldehyde condensation product, (4) sorbitol ester lubricant, (5) ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid and (6) a dyestuff.
